STEEMIT NEWBIES ENCOURAGEMENT PROGRAM (SNEP)

The steem-cameroon community has witness a constant growth as we continually sign up new users to steemit each day. Helping these steemians find their way to becoming consistent and successful on the steemit platform has therefore become very vital as we are looking forward to building a resilient and self-supportive community. After brainstorming and having engaging discussions with @thegreens and @yeesja for the pass week, it was really eminent to come up with this program with its principal goal being to encourage the growth of Cameroonian steemians (newbies). The SNEP program will be geared towards equipping newbies with reputation of less than 54 and SP of 150 and less with adaptive and creative thinking skills through means of guided/directed writing. Through this program we shall also ensure newbies are able to take all tasks in the newcomers community through means of follow up and mentorship.

Functionality/Eligibility of SNEP:

  • The program is going to run on a weekly basis following the chosen weekly spotlights/focus and reward prizes given on the 7th day of each week.
  • The purpose of this program is to reduce the competition between advanced steemains and newbies hence only these newbies shall be taking part in the weekly contests.
  • Through this program mentorship and follow up of newbies to take their achievement tasks in the newcomers community.
  • Participants shall also receive upvotes and resteems from the #steemcurator04 account, #steem-cameroon, #steemcurator01, @thegreen, @saxopedia, @fombae and @njiatanga.
  • Five posts shall be selected each week in terms of content quality and creativity and put of the spotlight for upvote recommendation.
  • For this program we shall work in close collaboration with the Newcomers community and the Steemit Nursery as we bring out weekly spotlights for contests.

The focus for this week will be directed writing with spotlight being culture. In Cameroon we have diverse cultures with amazingly similar features but unique origins. For this week (W01) participants are expected to write about their cultures showing clearly their unique characteristics.

Cameroon has a rich and diverse culture made up of a mix of about 250 indigenous populations and just as many languages and customs. The country is nicknamed "Little Africa" as geographically, Cameroon consists of coastline, mountains, grass plains, forest, rainforest and desert, all of the geographical regions in Africa in one country.
Each major ethnic group of the country has developed its own culture. The vigorous rhythms played on the drums by the people of the southern forest region contrast with the flute music of northern Cameroonians.

QUESTIONS

  • What is the name of the village and the ethnic group you come from?
  • What part of Cameroon is your village found and what the language being spoken by your people?
  • Present a brief history about the origin of your village.
