Greetings to all my steemians. Hope all we are doing fine.

Climate change has been a threat to humanity and looking at it from a greater perspective, it affects women more than men. So I will be happy to share with you how Gender and climate change relate.

The impacts of this change in climate can be shared in different regions, occupations and gender. Women have more than 65% of poverty globally and the effect of climate change affects them so much. This is because the key areas of this change are very much linked to gender equality issues.

The exposure of men and women in relation to climate change on food security are not the same. They all play varied roles within the family upkeep, thus the impact of this change affect them at different intervals. Men and women have varied abilities in relation to climate change threats threat. Looking at it closely, we can see that women suffered a lot when it concern climate change and as a result their exposure to food insecurity is so high.

Women’s action to food insecurity

In most cases like that of Cameroon, women are known as owners of crops but not owners of land. Their part played to ensure food security at the household level in relation to climate change and some other sensitive activities make them to be vulnerable to a lot of climate related problems.
To add to this in relation to no ownership of land by women, this has however led to low investment and high environmental degradation thus leading to increasing food shortages.
A lot of women do not have needed information on climate change and other inputs which can help increase agricultural productivity. When their product reduces this as well reduces their potential income and food available for house consumption and with such negative impacts there is bound to be undernutrition.

Effective ways to adapt to climate change needs women’s participation and action taking in decision making which can as well influence gender. This is the case of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change that have accepted women to play the same role with men in development and implementation of climate policies.
Thanks for taking time to read.

It is but true that climate change has affected food security and women to a very great extent, that is why climate justice helps mitigate the challenges women face.

That's just the whole truth women do partake in agriculture more than men that's why they are most affected.
