The Quest to destroy the Forest by the D.O of Ndu

in Steem Cameroon3 years ago (edited)

Greetings to all my Steemian friends. Days have passed by and I still can not believe what I saw on the media that the DO of Ndu ask his subordinate to clear the forest as a move to fight insecurity with the separatist fighters. The question the first came to my mind was, is he nature friendly or an advocate for climate change? I have never heard this in my life that the government intern to cut down a forest as a mechanism to fight war.

Our forest our livelihood

As an advocate of climate change, I am not happy with such a policy and urge nature lovers like me to join voice to end such a bad policy. Climate change for years have been a called for concern where the international bodies in relation to all state-holders and some powerful nations are making way to find a remedy to this global threat. Treaties have been signed, funding have been done and a lot just to plant tress in the south to provide a carbon well so as to reduce the world temperature increase. In the developed world, there are lot of strategies to help reduce the carbon dioxide which is a green house gas from the atmosphere. Most of their mitigation strategies are science oriented and in Africa it’s only possible by planting trees in our environment. These trees have a great environmental impact to the society and nature then why ask the forest to be cut down?

I have been asking myself lot of questions in regards to such his policy. He is trying to hurt nature and by so doing it will be difficult to have food from the forest, the soils will be rendered infertile, the animal habitat will be destroyed, there would be poor quality air available, reductions in plants that serve for medical purposes, our culture would be tampered with and most especially the function of carbon wells would be destroyed( that means oxygen production will be reduce with more green house gases to the atmosphere)
Did he really take all these into consideration before unleashing such a policy? Are we going but backward or forward to fight climate change?

This is not fair. We have invested so much to be where we are in planting trees, educating the masses on the importance of the forest as seen above then just because of war the forest would be brought down just like that. Will the government allowed such stupid move to go fort after she have been signing treaties to limit world’s temperature? It’s time for we nature lovers to rise and say no to such a policy from such an administration.

The war has nothing to do with the forest. Let the government respect the treaty sign on forest protection for nature conservation. Destroying the forest means killing us because we so much depend on the forest for a livelihood. Something needs to be done. We need to rise up and say no to forest destruction or any policy that is not nature friendly.
Let the government use other better strategies to fight her war and leave our forest alone.
Thanks for reading.

Wao an impressive idea. The government need to employ other strategies rather than bringing down the forest.

A friend once told me that cutting down a tree makes her feel like you are cutting a pot of her body. The pain in your exposition, out crying the decision by the policy maker of Ndu Subdivision to cut down trees as an attempt to fight the war in the region can be felt by anyone. It is really sad that as climate activists continue to fight to see to it that climate gets better by planting more trees, a government official is ordering for the trees which we give our lives to, to be cut down. let us continue to hope that this move will not be executed otherwise we risk facing the desertification and other consequences of global warming amongst which would be food shortages. I also feel bad because I had contributed in planting trees in a family land in that part of the region let's continue to pray against such a move.
