5 SO WE, BEING MANY, ARE ONE BODY IN CHRIST, AND INDIVIDUALLY MEMBERS OF ONE ANOTHER.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if PROPHECY, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;
7 or MINISTRY, let us use it in our ministering; he who TEACHES, in teaching;
8 he who EXHORTS, in exhortation; he who GIVES, with liberality; he who LEADS, with diligence; he who shows MERCY, with cheerfulness.
9 LET LOVE BE WITHOUT HYPOCRISY. ABHOR WHAT IS EVIL. CLING TO WHAT IS GOOD."
Romans 12:5-9 (NKJV)

• In this teaching we would be sharing about the functionality of the Body of Christ, the role of each individual believer, and the motivational gifts of God the Father.

  • The motivational gifts are given by God the Father, they are inborn, immanent or intrinsic. It is about how you are motivated, react or respond, to things.
  • These gifts are listed in the passage of the Bible used as the text of this teaching Romans 12:5-9. The gifts are seven in number but the emphasis would be on the gift of Giving.

• Christians are called the Body of Christ. It means everyone who claims to be born-again is an integral part of the Body (Romans 12:4,5)

  • Some are eyes, whilst some are legs, and other members of the the Body (1 Corinthians 12:14-20).
  • You must be a part of the Body, If you are not, it means you are not a member of the Body: "SO IT IS WITH CHRIST'S BODY. WE ARE MANY PARTS OF ONE BODY, AND WE ALL BELONG TO EACH OTHER" (Romans 12:5 (NLT).
  • Whichever part you are, you have a function in the body. There is no part of the human body that has no function, as small as a nail is, it has a function.
  • Therefore, every Christian must be a functional member of the Body of Christ: "FROM HIM THE WHOLE BODY [the church, in all its various parts], JOINED AND KNITTED FIRMLY TOGETHER BY WHAT EVERY JOINT SUPPLIES, WHEN EACH PART IS WORKING PROPERLY, CAUSES THE BODY TO GROW AND MATURE, BUILDING ITSELF UP IN [unselfish] LOVE" (Ephesians 4:16 Amps).

"HE MAKES THE WHOLE BODY FIT TOGETHER PERFECTLY. AS EACH PART DOES ITS OWN SPECIAL WORK, IT HELPS THE OTHER PARTS GROW, SO THAT THE WHOLE BODY IS HEALTHY AND GROWING AND FULL OF LOVE."
Ephesians 4:16 (NLT)

  • You must know the part you are, in order to function properly and effectively. If you know your part and you are not functioning, it means you are a sick or dead part of the Body.

• You have the ability to do certain things well: "IN HIS GRACE, GOD HAS GIVEN US DIFFERENT GIFTS FOR DOING CERTAIN THINGS WELL. So if God has given you the ABILITY to prophesy, speak out with as much FAITH as God has GIVEN YOU" (Romans 12:6 NLT).

29 FOR the GIFTS and the CALLING of God are IRREVOCABLE."
Romans 11:29 (NKJV).

• How to know the part you are and your functions in the Body.

  • One of the ways to know your functions or gifts is, whatever you are always inclined to do is pointing to the direction to go—the gift inherent, built-in or hardwired, in you.
  • If you are always angry with something, it could be God wanted to correct the particular thing through you. It means you have the ability in you to put it right.
  • If there is a need in people's life, or in the church you attend, that always attracts your attention, It could be that God wanted to use you to meet the need—either in someone's or people's lives, or the whole church.

• Giving as a gift.
"IF your gift is to ENCOURAGE others, be encouraging. IF IT IS GIVING, GIVE GENEROUSLY. If God has given you LEADERSHIP ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for SHOWING KINDNESS to others, do it gladly" (Romans 12:8 (NLT).

  • There is grace given to every possessor of each gift to function in whatever gift given to him or her.
  • If you had the gift of Giving, the ability to give; the grace to lay down, give to others, the work of God, and be generous with whatever you had would be on you.
  • Mostly, those who have the gift of Giving usually have the resources or substances to give. However, every Believer should be a Giver.
  • As you grow in the Christian faith, you had to grow in Giving also: "SINCE you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us—I WANT YOU TO EXCEL ALSO IN THIS GRACIOUS ACT OF GIVING" (2 Corinthians 8:7 (NLT).
  • The reason why God has blessed you is that you may be a blessing to others (Genesis 12:2).

• The purpose of being prosperous is Giving. Prosperity is not about the accumulation of wealth. There is a difference between prosperity and materialism.

  • The main reason or purpose why God has blessed His people, and why He still wants to bless His people, is Giving—sharing with others (1 Timothy 6:17,18; Hebrews 13:16). That is, He wants whoever is blessed to be a blessing, both to His work and other people, especially the people of household of faith (Galatians 6:10; James 1:27; Proverbs 31:8,9).
  • God's aim is not that you should be blessed alone, but you being a blessing to others: "I WILL MAKE YOU A GREAT NATION; I WILL BLESS YOU AND MAKE YOUR NAME GREAT; AND YOU SHALL BE A BLESSING" (Genesis 12:2 NKJV).
    READ: Job 29:12,13,15,16
  • If it was not in your mind to bless others with whatever you are blessed with, God might not release the Blessings to you.
  • If the material Prosperity you are asking for would be consumed on your own lust, God might not grant your desires (James 4:3).

• You will not fail in Jesus' name.

  • Whatever is not planted in your body that is working against your health and wellness, such is rebuked and uprooted totally in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
  • Your deliverance is permanent and the Affliction will never rise again in Jesus' name.
    Peace!

STEPS TO SALVATION
• Take notice of this:
IF you are yet to take the step of salvation, that is, yet to be born-again, do it now, tomorrow might be too late (2 Corinthians 6:1,2; Hebrews 3:7,8,15).
a. Acknowledge that you are a sinner and confess your Sins (1 John 1:9); And ask Jesus Christ to come into your life (Revelation 3:20).
b. Confess that you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that you confess it with your mouth, Thus, you accept Him As your Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9,10).
c. Ask that He will write your name in the Book of Life (Philippians 4:3; Revelation 3:8).

  • If you took the steps As highlighted above, It means you are saved—born-again. Join a Word based church in your area and Town or city, and be part of whatever they are doing there. Peace!
