"NOW THESE THINGS, brethren, I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, THAT YOU MAY LEARN IN US NOT TO THINK BEYOND WHAT IS WRITTEN, THAT NONE OF YOU MAY BE PUFFED UP ON BEHALF OF ONE AGAINST THE OTHER."
1 Corinthians 4:6 (NKJV)

Comment: Apostle Paul in this passage was talking about how not to allow people to move you, as a believer or minister of God, against God Who has enabled you to do whatever you are doing. In the church at Corinth, there were factions, where some said:
12 SOME OF YOU ARE SAYING, “I AM A FOLLOWER OF PAUL.” OTHERS ARE SAYING, “I FOLLOW APOLLOS,” or “I FOLLOW PETER,” or “I FOLLOW ONLY CHRIST.” 13 HAS CHRIST BEEN DIVIDED INTO FACTIONS? WAS I, PAUL, CRUCIFIED FOR YOU? WERE ANY OF YOU BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF PAUL? OF COURSE NOT!" (1 Corinthians 1:12,13 NLT).
It is this kind of praise and eulogy that made king Herod died untimely. He was being praised by the people because he gave a speech, an oration, his head began to swell, they said he was a god, they made him a deity:
21 SO ON A SET DAY HEROD, ARRAYED IN ROYAL APPAREL, SAT ON HIS THRONE AND GAVE AN ORATION TO THEM. 22 AND THE PEOPLE KEPT SHOUTING, “THE VOICE OF a god AND NOT OF A MAN!” 23 THEN IMMEDIATELY AN ANGEL OF THE LORD STRUCK HIM, BECAUSE HE DID NOT GIVE GLORY TO GOD. AND HE WAS EATEN BY WORMS AND DIED" (Acts 12:21–23 (NKJV).

Herod accepted the people's praise and did not give the glory to God. The admonition is; remained small in your own eyes, do not allow the praise of men, people in general, moves you against God. If God has used to do exploits, people tend to praise and idolize you, but wisdom demands that you do not allow it.
Always acknowledge God as the source of your exploits and success: "WHAT ARE YOU SO PUFFED UP ABOUT? WHAT DO YOU HAVE THAT GOD HASN'T GIVEN YOU? AND IF ALL YOU HAVE IS FROM GOD, WHY ACT AS THOUGH YOU ARE SO GREAT, AND AS THOUGH YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING ON YOUR OWN?" (1 Corinthians 4:7 the Living Bible).
Peace.
