Jim only had a 9th grade education and he came from a working class family. He had seen his father give up his dream of being a professional sax player to become an accountant and look after and feed his family.

Jim decided he wanted to do what he loved and be paid for doing it, as he had seen his father give up what he loved and live a mediocre life.

As a struggling actor in Hollywood, Jim decided to make a clear mental image of what he wanted to achieve. He wrote down his dream as specifically as possible. Jim's dream was to earn $10,000,000 from a single film, so he could support his family in a way he truly wanted.

In 1985 he wrote himself a cheque for acting services rendered and kept it in his wallet for 10 years. Once he had set his intention he started taking action to make his dream a reality.

He realised that life presents us with opportunites all the time, but it's up to us to take action on them to achieve our goals. He took every acting opportunity that came his way, and in 1994, his career took off like a rocket ship.
