Afghan boys are continuously impressing us | The World of Sports

Hello, fellow Sports Enthusiasts,

When someone asks me about the greatest rise in Cricket, I'll say the Afghanistan Cricket team. Around 2 decades ago, most Cricketing nations didn't care about them and they were playing Division 05. But then these guys eventually dominated the associate teams and took the world's attention. Under all the odds and difficulties in the home, the team provides hope for the people and a smile on their faces. There is a saying that difficult moments make strong people, and these guys are just proving it.

In recent years they started to threaten the top teams and its climax came a few months ago when they went to the semi-finals of the T20I World Cup beating the Aussie team. Anyway, I am writing this with their first win over South Africa in the ongoing series.

This is an outstanding achievement from their side. After being an associate member in 2013, and a full member in 2017 they have come a long way. At the start, they were shined in T20Is. Rashid Khan and Nabhi continuously topped the balling and all-rounder rankings and Rashid Khan particularly shines in many leagues around the world. But now, they have started to make some difference in ODI and Test matches too.

In the first ODI match between SA, and Afghans started the balling. It's held in Sarjha and we know the wickets are a bit baller friendly. But Afghanistan just destroyed SA batters. At the end of the powerplay, Farooqi and Ghazanfar rattled the SA for 36/7. Then with a little partnership, they passed the 100 mark. The chase was never easy as suspected. But the Afghanistan team read the situation and won it by 06 wickets.

After starting to dominate the Associate teams, they first challenged and won against Bangladesh, Ireland, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Pakistan, and Zimbabwe. Against these top teams, they have both ODI and T20I matches. Apart from that, they won ODI matches over England, and South Africa and T20I wins over the Aussies and Kiwis at least once.

As you can remember they almost pulled off a victory against Australia in the ODI World Cup last year. But Maxwell denied the satisfaction. But in the T20I World Cup, they defeated both Aussie and Kiwis to advance to the semis. Believe me, these teams are giants, and it doesn't matter to these guys. They come to win.

I have to remind Mohammad Nabi, who is an integral part of the team now, was a member of their first T20 team in 2009. And he has seen from the bottom. He holds a unique record of defeating 46 different countries in all the international matches. So, now they have understood the rhythm and passion of Cricket and winning. I guess with more matches in the future, they will show some turnarounds in the future!!!

Thank you.
Best Regards!
