There Is No Place Like Home
When a ball is thrown up in the air, it will return to the ground with the same speed as it was thrown in the air. This process is called gravitation. Isaac Newton defined it: “What comes up must come down”. Since the day that we are born we already established a gravitational tie between someone or something around us. As we progressed day by day, this force that pulls us to everything became stronger which stains our heart and mind making it hard for us to lose it. Just like a child on his toy, a train on its rail, a hen on its egg and even us with our homes, a place where we truly define ourselves.
They say that home is where the anchor drops. I bet this five little word is true. We constantly find ourselves outside of our doors never knowing that the answer is just within. Matsuo Basho arguably confirms this claim. He said: “Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home”. To seek something is already part of the human nature. Many people explore various places and discover new things. We are blown by the wind away from our focal point but there is something attached deep inside which hold us from where we are. Yes, there is no place like home. If you don’t believe it, let us put that in perspective.
Imagine that you really want to go to mars, it was your dream and you will do everything just to get there. Luckily, you are given a chance a one-way trip to Mars. You are entitled to live there throughout your life. Would you be happy? Or satisfied? Yes, of course you will be happy but the question is are you really happy? Or is it just because of the release of your craving? According to Richard Williams, you are not happy; it is just the release of cravings that makes you happy. Then what? That happiness will fade because just like a huge volume of water on a dam that has been released. Days will pass, you will feel empty and no longer happy. Days will come that you will seek someone or something. Days will come you will then realize where your heart truly belong and it is home.
Home is where you grow from seed in to a sprout or from a chick in to a bird. It is where you develop your wings and learn to flap it all the way to the top. It is where you develop your fin and learn to swim in deep. It is where you learn to pump your heart and learn to love the things around you. It is where you learn to breath when you are a baby, learn to play when you are a child, learn to dance when you are a teen, learn to love when you are a man and learn to live to find your life. Home is where your story begins.
It is not just a place, it is a feeling. Earth is over 12,000 kilometers in diameter, had 7 continents and divided by water. Despite of its enormous features, there will always be a place suited for you. A place where you are surrounded by the people you love and loves you back. Where you feel comfortable, dances the dance that you never dance before, sing the song that you never sang before and laugh as hard that you’ve never done before. It is where your failure becomes the fuel to success, your pain that ignites the fire of love and tears to lapidate the joy.
Though, sometimes you find home is irritating. A deafening place to listen the sermons of your parents or anxious location hearing those ear-splitting mouth of your neighbors. All of these are just part of our home. Like a developed oxygen in the photosynthesis, these are just a by-product of our home but even though it is an exasperating place, we cannot deny the fact that we always tend to find it.
We have different homes in different places. Even if you are an American, Asian, African, Indian and all other races in this world, we are all bound with one place. We are all bound with one family. Just like a gravity, we may fell many times on dark abyss or be carried away on distant state, there is still no place like home and you always want to find it.
