Day In The Life Of a Homeschooler: Field Trip To The Mountains(continued)

in #homeschool6 years ago

My post yesterday was only about the one place we visited when we visited one of the most beautiful places in Tennessee, Muddy Pond. This post will be about a place with some of the clearest water you will see in these parts. Hanging Limb is the name of the town I grew up in. It is a town consisting of mostly people I am related to haha(hence the reason I married someone from out of state;) This won't be a long post just a few pictures and a story or two but stay til the ending. It will be worth it!

First off though, I thought this was a rock and it's a goat! We stopped to take her picture(yes it was a female, she had full udders) and she just kept looking at us and I think she was smiling at me. It's possible she was laughing but who knows!

We stopped for a few drinks(it was roughly 93 degrees and almost unbearably humid) and the store had like 20 rocking chairs on their porch. I snapped this picture while we were cooling off with some whoopie pies and orange cream soda.

How can a place be hidden in the woods from people then when people do find it and make a road to it, it's still beautiful! ?

Did I mention the fact that it's amazingly clear? This little part was only about calf deep and super cold but you can only tell there's water because of the reflection. It's spring fed so when you get in, it's like getting into ice water! I wish I could have gotten pictures at the place that has always been known as "The Blue Hole" and it is so pretty and blue. There were roughly a million people there yesterday and I didn't want them to think I was some weirdo taking pictures of half naked people haha!

Last but not least is this house that looks like just an old abandoned house. It is way more than that! This is called the Officer House. I have toured this house once and it is really eery knowing the history of the house and walking around seeing the bullets still stuck in the walls in the kitchen from the Union soldiers. Six people were killed where they sat eating breakfast.

As you can see, people have left idiotic graffiti on the front and now they have no trespassing signs everywhere. I am going to figure out who owns it so we can get a tour "fingers crossed". Then we will get to do a little ghost hunting because I have heard stories about what people have seen and heard while they are in there! I have been inside once but I was a kid and so scared that I only paid attention to the holes in the walls and being just terrified enough to scream when a bat flew out of the attic.

That's all I have for our field trip day trip! I love writing about our adventures in homeschooling! I would love for people to know that we aren't a bunch of weirdos who don't socialize or do flu shots;)

Was there was a fence between you and that rock...I mean goat

A very small strand of electric fence was all that was standing between me and having a pet goat;)
