Here are the list of the other 3 channels in this WInter Homesteading Collab: GO CHECK THEM OUT!!

-Life in Farmland:

-White House on the Hill:

We are in planting Zone 8, & what we love to do in the colder months of the year is to get a jump start on planting evergreen shrubs & fruit trees. You can get super deals on plants, shrubs, fruit trees in the winter months, bc the nurseries are trying to get rid of all that stock that they know they will not be able to sell during the winter months.

We will hit all the local nurseries & even the big box stores, trying to find great deals on herbs, shrubs, & fruit trees, & then once we rack on on great deals, we will go ahead and plant right now, bc we are in zone 8 and the ground really never freezes here, & our winters are not typically very harsh. So things like evergreen shrubs & fruit trees, we can plant now so they will get a great jump start come summer. BC we know when the alabama summers hit, we will not have to worry about that summer heat stressing out our fruit trees and evergreen shrubs that we planted in the fall and winters months bc by now, they should be good and established. See if you go ahead and plant in the winter & fall months, you do not have to worry about the summer heat stress bc the plants are dormant in the winter, & can get their roots established.

So if your ground isn't frozen solid or not covered by 2 foot of snow, then you should go out and plant a few shrubs or fruit trees or plants before the heatwave comes!
