RE: Off-Grid: Our First 8 Months of Off-Grid Living part 1 - The Summer Months

Good to hear about your journey man...
Hay is that a Tri-hulled canoe with sail, looks unusual?
Yeah i got all kinds of looks and comments when i said i was making alternate lifestyle choices, I thought - well, they can carry on, i am gonna do it now or never - glad i did!
I dont blame your for cooking with propane in the Summer, gets pretty hot!
So for your drinking #water , You have to buy the 1000 gallons every year?

Sort:

1000 gallons of water would be delivered 2 times a year .. $100 per delivery. We kept track of the bottles and juggs of water for drinking and cooking we used in a week, multiplied by 52 weeks per year. After converting to gallons we calculated 1600 or so gallons, so we figured 2 deliveries per year would be plenty. The sail boat is fun, it has all the bells and whistles of a sailboat.. the keel lowers deep into the water with a pull of a lever. A 2 adult seater, has removable foot pedal padles for each seat. It's nice and light so it's easy to tow around and drop into any lake. The year before, my dad thought i was throwing my life away. After he saw the property and what we were doing he was very happy with it and saw the genius of early retirement.

@preppervetuk - check out the chiminea boiler, next to it on the right on the ground you can see the cat food can que'd up for the next round - lol good times :)
