Get out the popcorn!!!!!

Today on Homestead Homebodies it's time for some Lawn Tractor Maintenance, so, we're changing the oil. Hang on, this may be the most exciting video posted to steemit all day!!!!!

Today it was time to change the oil in our lawn tractor. Of course we would need some oil, but we also need an oil filter seen here and we changed the air filter as well.
This is an easier job than you might think as we only used one tool and probably could have gotten by with no tools.

Here you can see the oil drain. A hose for draining the oil comes with these tractors so all you need to do is remove the cap, slip the hose over the end, then pull / turn and wait. It's really that simple. As you can see we drained the oil into a plastic jug for recycling.

While waiting for the oil to drain we changed the air filter. This is as easy as draining the oil. Just unscrew the filter cover, remove the old one, replace with a new one and screw the cover back on.

Now that the oil is finished draining we just reverse the steps. Push / turn and put the cap back on.

As you can see we use an oil filter removal tool which attaches to a ratchet to remove the oil filter (you could remove this by hand). The oil filter is full of oil and so rubber gloves are handy to keep from getting any oil on you.

I like to take a few drops of oil and rub them on the new oil filter ring helping to ensure a tight fit and easy removal. Just thread it back on hand tight and your now ready for oil!

This engine takes 1.5 liters of oil so I used a small container that is marked for a 1/2 liter and fill that three times. It's just more convenient and I'm less likely to spill it all over. Next, check the oil level. Now start it up, check for leaks, double check the oil level and get ready to ride!

Two observations, first, this was the most exciting video I've watched on Steemit all day! Second, I think this is the first of your videos I've ever watched that didn't have Candy in it, so it's the most disappointing video I've seen all day also ;)

It appears we have a blockbuster hit with this one: "most exciting" and "most disappointing". I bet we do great at the box office........uh hang on, Candy wants to say something...."Dad you're just like all the other Hollywood producers.....just once I won't "lay" on the couch with you and I no longer get the casting call".
I think you're right Brother. I guess I was feeling a little selfish about sharing tractor time with the puppy.....no.......no, that's not right. The truth is she's really afraid of it and anytime I'm near it she thinks it'll just miraculously start up and chase her around the property so she avoids it more than necessary.
I did give her a little snuggle and whispered your name. She's smiling now!

My little one hates the mower also. I guess mowers are on the universal list of things all dogs dislike, right below mailmen, baths and trips to the vet.

Wow that simple... Imagine that they would use many tools and that much dirty, but they do not make it simple, super clean and tidy. I loved the video!

Thank you🙂

You're right, it is very important to keep these tools in tip top operational order!

There is no easy work. The ability they have to carry out the activities of the farm is admirable. They are full of blessings. Regards!

If it was easy....we wouldn't call it work!

really amazing video
thanks for sharing

Thanks

Well that looked fairly easy. I have to say, I haven't ever done it as my brother lives next door and he does all my mechanic work. I guess I really should learn to do it myself LOL. My little lawn tractor is old but it's my best friend on the homestead :D

And to think that all this time I thought Cocoa was your best friend on the homestead. Mmmmm tractor love!

I like, the minitractor to cut grass, I had not had the opportunity to see how they do the oil change, I am struck by the cleanliness of the work, here someone is going to change an oil and has to go out to bathe, I congratulate you meticulous of your work, how are you going with the plague of the potato? I do not feel well, but I take the opportunity to send a greeting to @anise and a kiss for Candy, greetings friend @brimax

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well, hopefully it will pass soon and you will be back in health and spirit!

Thank you Brimax friend, your desires I like very well since they are the only people I can talk to and they give me peace of mind, through the network because the chaos that exists here in my country is too hard to be sick. Thank you and I'm waiting for your potato harvest greetings to everyone at home and to Candy @brimax

How are you my friend @brimax

Let me tell you that you have a nice tractor I think I had not seen a modern tar besides it is small soil to think that a tractor is very big

You're right is the most exciting video I've seen today luckily I know what you talked about in school I saw a bit of mechanics and it's like an oil change like it is with a car

I had not seen anything so close it's good to learn every day a little we do not know when we can touch change the fruit of a car or tractor

I hope everyone is well at home

Thanks for stopping by and yes everyone is well, thank you!

Good job my dear friend @brimax you do everything in your farm that's good the truth that every time I learn more about you

The truth is nothing of cars, much less tractors I have never done a mechanical work but it is good to see your videos are very entertaining I love also that I learn many things I am happy that you taught us the whole process I saw it until the end

How is Candy? sure more beautiful and as always active and playing, greetings to everyone in your house

Candy is just as playful as ever, thanks!

Here you are again my friend brimax I see that you have a lot of work maintaining a farm is not only sowing and harvesting also this keep those tools that help us to take the farm

Incredible the process I do not have access with cars or tractors I had never seen how to make an oil change plus you explained very well what if it is that it is something main to change the oil and its filter this guarantees that everything works as it should be

As always my greetings @anise and Candy

I let Anise And Candy know you've sent them greetings, thank you🙂
