DIY upcycled Tshirt appliqué pillow
an old plain T-shirt
old fabric scraps
stuffing ( you can use polyester stuffing or plastic bags)
Directions:
First, take your old T-shirt and cut a straight line across it right under the armpits. Now, cut the very bottom hem of the shirt off so that you are left with a wide loop of fabric. Lay your loop of fabric flat on your surface.
Look through your fabric scraps and find enough pieces to cover most of the front half of the loop when it is laid out flat. Arrange the pieces ( these are your appliqués! ) in a way you like on top of the loop of fabric and keep in mind not to put the pieces too close to the edge of the loop for seam-allowance. Pin all of the pieces down to the loop (do not pin all the way through both layers of the loop).
Using a sewing machine, sew on the pieces of fabric one at a time (do not sew through both layers of the loop).
Turn the loop inside-out and smooth it down to where all of the appliqués are on the same side. Sew one edge all the way across, sew the other edge with enough room open to turn right-side out. Turn the pillow inside-out and stuff ( I used plastic bag pieces for stuffing). Carefully sew shut the edge used to turn it inside-out.
This is a really great Upcycle project @cassidydawn! I love the added appliqués. I am glad you took a look at the needlework community and liked what you saw.
I would love to invite you to share with us! Every Monday we get together to share our work, patterns, tips and ideas. Our goal is to support one another in our efforts as we inspire the Steemit blockchain.
On Monday’s we use the #needleworkmonday tag and on all other days we use the #needlework tag without the word Monday attached. We encourage everyone to share the process of their work with picture if possible. Thank you for explaining the process of making this t-shirt pillow.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work ;)
You described this process really well, which isn't easy to do without pictures to help demonstrate.
Just as a heads up, @crosheille runs a @NeedleworkMonday and #needlework tag, if you ever post in this genre again. Also, this might be a good fit for the @ecotrain tag too.
Thanks @homeedders! I checked out @NeedleworkMonday and I like it thank you for the suggestion.
Thank you @homeedders for informing her of the @NeedleWorkMonday community :)
When you say you used plastic bags, so you just screw them up as is, or do you chop them up smaller?

I did a project once making a rug out of plastic bags that needed bags that were cut into loops and I used the ends from that. So, to answer your question more simply, I used them cut up.
That's a pretty cool looking pillow!
And yeh soft things sounds like that would be the way to go XD Though having said that mermaid pillows seem to be a thing o_O
Thanks, and I firmly believe that you can find soft mermaid things somewhere!
