SUBURBAN HOMESTEADERS FAVOURITE TOOL AND GADGETS.

in #homesteading7 years ago

Aren't we all homesteaders to a degree? I find myself enjoying the produce grown in my own tiny veggie patch and when I have an abundant crop though small compared to other crops I see, I like to dehydrate my harvest. My dehydrator seen in my video is a one off as it broke down along with 2 others we had bought over the past 2 years. This time hubby and I thought about how we could improve this unit and we came up with a plan. We bought 2 Excalibur motors and elements and then exchange the existing ones with these. Well I can tell you it works a treat now. In this video I just show off some of the gadgets and tools you might say that I use often. Hope you enjoy my kooky video and please hit the subscribe button as it costs nothing and means a lot to me, thank you.

And I thought I had a lot of gadgits.. lol resteeming

I have a lot but do use the a lot and thank you.

I love that you call the clothes line a tool, any guy would have gone with the washing machine because it has an engine. But it's so true, it really is a tool. Low maintenance too. I'd be using the line a lot more than I would use a tractor if I had one!

Absolutely it is and I love my 40 year old washing line.

Thank you.

nice dehydrator I've never seen one like it :) I don't suppose there is a video on the mod ? replacing motor and heating elements that is ? :) you are the first person I've ever heard say they don't like the sward dehydrator :D Excalibur even :P thanks for sharing

Thanks and sadly I wasn't on utube at the time. Hubbies a sparky as we call them here and it took a few days to do the change over as he has little time at home. In this generic unit I can fit a kilo \ two pounds of food on each tray and with 12 trays that's a lot of food done in one go. Sadly I wish that I hadn't wasted my money on the Excalibur as it was over 400 dollars plus shipping to Australia.

I've not checked the price recently but last time I did look it was in Canadian funds well over six hundred so I see where dropping four hundred would be worrisome. I got a dehydrator on sale while a shop was closing down it looks just like what Bev using on ourhalfacrehomestead on yt uses :) it was just under a hundred :) if I had my own place it would not be in storage :)

Hopefully you'll be in your own place soon.

I loved the tour of your place. Did I see lights on each of your shelves at the beginning where you keep your air cooker? What a great idea. Your pantry is fabulous. I try to keep ahead as well. You never know when a bad gardening year will hit. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you and yes the lights come on as I open the door and run on batteries. Hubby loves to make things work a little better for me. I also have a sensor light in my pantry room that comes on as I walk in there usually with my hands full. This is so nice to have these little improvements around the house.

What a sweet hubby. It's all about the "upgrades" for me. Every tiny improvement is so appreciated.

Absolutely
