Thanks for the great info. Been trying for years to get a single pumpkin fruit, and it ain't easy. My vine usually gets stunted growth after a couple months of growth. Going to keep trying to build the correct recipe for perfect soil, sun, water, and fertilizer. Can't control the weather though.

The only part I wonder about is the cardboard layer method. I've heard recently multiple layers of cardboard can block oxygen in the soil. Why not top with wood chip mulch instead?
