A very useful and accurate post. Another useful thing about quail is that they are excellent at eating any food dropped from above, so if you have an outdoor aviary they will go in with any other birds and run about the floor picking up dropped seed and generally minding their own business. Being non flyers they are not competing with other aviary birds for food, space or roosts.
I didn't think about having them under other birds! What a great idea @elaine54! Now that you say that I do remember seeing that once. Thank you for this comment, its watering a new line of thinking.
