My friends John Manninen, Craig Wilson, John Eagle, myself, and a few others came out with snowmobiles with attached groomers, as well as, a frontend loader. Working to create a decent foundation for coming snow. We will be back just before race day to finish the rest making it perfect for the 2nd annual cardboard sledding contest on Feb, 20th. We also worked on clearing the parking area.

Last year I created this event for my community and we had around 80 or so participants. Which was great seeing how it was mostly word of mouth. But this time we have actual advertising and are expecting 150-200 people. Last year we served free hot cocoa, hotdogs, and free registration. Only expense for the racers was the duct tape and cardboard they used to create their sleds with. Each category gets a 1st-3rd place trophy, plus one for best crash and coolest sled. This year we are again providing free food and registration. Ideally this community event will remain free every year and be financed through donations. The local Lions Club, that I am a member of, will cover the event with a 1 million dollar insurance policy. Each participant is required to have a parent or guardian sign a waiver before they register. Adults can race as well and obviously can sign waiver for themselves 😉

Here is a video of us grooming and building a foundation for the sledding track and prepping the parking area…

Here is this years race announcement. Those in the picture are some of last years racers…
