No, they still go out and eat stuff every day, but they sleep in a barn instead of their trailer. Nobody hires them during the winter so it's much easier for me if I don't have to muck out three feet of hay and poop every few weeks. If they're in the barn, all the muck gets pushed out with the tractor and added to the garden. It's a win-win.

They definitely need shelter, because they hate bad weather, but they will still go out and browse even when the brush isn't very nutritious. They waste a lot of hay, and it's much easier to clean it out of a barn than a trailer!
