A bountry of food for $6.78

in #homesteading7 years ago

I've been living in Central America for 9 years now, and one of the things that always amazes me is the price of food. But in a good way. I've always preferred fresh food to processed and in Canada where I'm from, produce was always more expensive than packaged food. I think this is ridiculous that it costs more to eat healthy than it does to eat junk. That should be the other way around shouldn't it?

Anyway today I had a good day at the market. I got all this food for less than $7.00!
1 lb white onions
3 heads of garlic
1 red pepper
1 head of lettuce
5 carrots
2 lbs of potatoes
4 avocados
2 lbs Roma tomatoes
1 dozen bananas
4 oranges
4 limes

A pretty good haul at the market

Just part of an awesome day!

That was indeed a great buy - 4 avocados in New Zealand would be $12 if I bought them today!!
