We are REALLY excited to share this program with you as we move into 2019! Making local food choices, becoming a producer in your own life, and reconnecting with our agrarian and hunter gatherer roots is not just a fad right now. It’s a deep yearning. A cultural desire. And a return to tradition.

People today are questioning the overly processed convenience foods that are linked with so many healthy concerns. They see the rise in obesity, the contention around heavily sprayed foods, and they feel the disconnection with the rich cultural traditions we once shared around not only cooking food, but collecting, raising and harvesting it. Maybe you share these thoughts.

Years ago, as a single mother of 4, Natalie Pepin, the owner of ReSkilled Life Folk School, set out to localize her her family’s food and to eat seasonally appropriate foods. She and her children learned to produce, process and preserve their own foods while they lived in the city and years later took their efforts to the country and started a farm. Although few will actually pursue this dedicated pioneer lifestyle, there is much to share from the steps they take each year to produce nearly all of the food they eat each year.

You are being invited to witness and take part in these efforts and to eat like a pioneer this year! This free online challenge will offer you interviews, videos, tutorials and articles on eating like a pioneer, becoming a food producer in your own yard, and forging relationships within your food shed to allow your family to eat both seasonally and locally.

This program will explore both wild and cultivated foods in the northern environment. You will experience;
