YOUTUBE - Because You Suck. And We Hate You - Final Farewell To Our YT Channel

All things must come to an end, right? I don't want to stay at a website that has given every indication that they would rather I not be there.

About 3 months ago, Youtube locked our account. The google plus team sent an email that the account had been locked due to a spam video but no other information was given. All of our inquiries were not responded too. The channel remained live and you could view all of our videos but we couldn't log in. Email after email was sent and the responses we got were vague or most of the time, there was no response at all.

So we figured the writing was on the wall after months of our videos being restricted and our subscribers reporting that they were being unsubscribed and not getting notifications of new content. We made sure we had all of our videos backed up and began looking for a new outlet in which to share our homesteading journey.

We have settled on Steemit.com and Patreon.com. Patreon is great but you're never going to get a majority of your viewers to pay for content. Only your top fans will do that. Steemit fit the bill perfectly in terms of lack of censorship, audience growth potential and revenue for our material.

So our goal is to make top quality content so that people will learn and be entertained at the same time.

The farewell video is meant to show the absurdity that Youtube has become. Enjoy!

Starting Friday, Nov. 10th we will be launching our tool videos where we showcase the top most used tools on the homestead. We will do steemit posts on these but the videos will only be available on Patreon for now. Here is the show opener.

Coming up in December, we will be continuing the much requested Homestead videos. But this time, we will be doing winter videos to show you how we get through the winter time in the Ozarks while living off grid. What do you do when all the water is frozen and the pipes don't work? What about those solar panels covered in snow and batteries that are not in a climate controlled environment? See how we harvest our meat and learn the history of meat preservation. You'll have to wait and see. These videos will be posted only on Patreon with picture posts and articles posted on Steemit and our website.
Here is the promo.

So that's it! Hope to see you on the homestead soon!

ENJOY THE VIDEO!

Once your eyes are open to it, it's amazing how sinisterly subtle the censorship can be, or how blatanty biased the promoted content is. We've had rabbit tractor and acorn-gathering videos instantly demonitized, and all we can do is shake our heads in disbelief and scroll past the idiot videos that I'm sure have had no problem being put out there. Gotta have the circus part of the bread and circus, right? Keep people distracted from what's really going on...

I know that you'll still get your message out there, and that those who have the ears to hear will continue to learn, benefit from, and be encouraged by the content you produce. And, at the end of the day when the computer is off and the sun sinks low, all the Real Things that you and your family have made will still be there. We'll continue to follow and learn from you all!

Thanks for those encouraging words. They mean a lot!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned DTube to you. It's integrated with steemit and upvotes on your videos give you steem, same way it does in blogform here.

I've had issues with people reporting poor playback. So I'm hoping that development will continue and they can get the bugs worked out. I'm very open to Dtube then.

When looking for a Youtube-replacement, high quality streams will be important. Hope they get the user experience piece figured out.

Do you do much automation with your product? ie., you post a video once on Youtube (Dtube, wherever) and it autoposts to steemit, reddit, tumblr, facebook, twitter, pinterest, etc?

So will you still be hosting your videos on YouTube? Or Vimeo only?

That was a great video, saw it this morning and shared to twitter!

Looking forward to the winter episodes!!!

Wait, is that a Game of Thrones reference? Or even a Song of Ice and Fire reference?

We all agree that it was time to say so long to YouTube. I'm sure most of us would prefer to see the videos that you will be posting only on Patreon but on the other side we get it. With out the financial support you won't be able to provide for your family and the lifestyle you are currently living. For $1 looks like I'm going to have to become a Patreon! Looking forward to seeing what you post and all the future content coming up! Shalom! P.S....I still think you should do something creative with that T-Shirt!!!

I think I'm going to do something with tannerite. We will see.

Explosives....good call!!!

Auction it off!

Hi Zach!
I just wanted to finally say hi and thanks for all the great videos you have put out there. I feel like I know you and your family a little bit from all the videos Ive watched of yourse. :) I have followed you over here from YouTube. I was hooked on your Homestead 'season' videos, believe it or not, I would watch an episode every morning on my phone while milking my goats. (Milking gets pretty boring after a while... haha)
When I got to the end of season 3 I found your farewell video, which got me interested in checking out Steem. Only been here a couple of days now, and Im still trying to figure everything out, but so far its pretty great.
Looking forward to reading and watching more content from you!
Have a blessed weekend!

You are the reason I am here. Came across your video on YouTube about Steemit. I took the plunge.

LOL. But how do you really feel? Great post.

I didn't record what I really feel! :)

That was hilarious! Bye 👋🏻 YouTube.
I’ll check out Patreon and sign up. For REAL the promo for the December videos was crazy good I loved it.

Good luck on the new road. I have stayed as far away from google as possible for many years. But we all have to live in this world, but not become or take part in the evil.
