Calling all outdoorsy writers: Who wants $50/article for original content?!
My Experience:
Two months ago, @energyaddict22 (aka Jerry) wrote this post explaining how his Steemit blog helped hook him up with the owner of the War History Online website, and long story short, Jerry landed the position of site editor and set out to recruit writers for the site.
The pay? That's the awesome part! $50 for articles using the site owner's ideas, and $60 for articles using the writer's own ideas.
Now, I've always loved reading and writing about history, and dreamed of a free lance job that would pay me for doing so--so you can bet I jumped on board, and sent in a sample article that got approved. Hooray for networking on Steemit leading to my dream job! Now Jerry is my free lance boss, and I get the fun of earning a guaranteed paycheck for something I really enjoy doing.
Your Opportunity:
Jerry recently took over as editor of the website Outdoor Revival as well, and he's calling all "survivalists, hunters, homesteaders, preppers, farming/gardening, canning/preserving" folks to regularly contribute articles! They're looking for people who can write something at least 1-2 times per week, but you can write more often if you wish to do so.
Want to make a regular paycheck for writing about outdoorsy topics? Then contact Jerry on Discord (EnergyAddict#9726) so he can arrange for you to submit a sample article!

The Way It Works
This offer is open only to those completely fluent in English; preferably native English speakers.
You submit a sample article to Jerry, between 800-2,000 words. If it is approved and you are accepted as a contributor, the sample will be published and you will be set up to access Outdoor Revival's ideas board on Trello. He also strongly encourages folks to submit ideas they would like to write about.
If you choose a topic from the Trello board, you get paid $50/article. If you "pitch" your own idea to Jerry and it gets approved and published, you get paid $60.
Every month, you submit an invoice for the articles you wrote.
Full disclosure: payment is via ACH and currently gets processed through a freelancers' job site called Upwork. Unfortunately, Upwork takes a 20% fee off your earnings for themselves until you've made $500, and then the fee drops to 10%. Jerry is working on an alternate means of payment for American writers, but in the meantime be forewarned of the Upwork fee!
- You are considered a 1099/independent contractor for tax purposes, and are responsible for maintaining your own records and filing your own taxes.
Again, if you're interested, contact @energyaddict22/Jerry via Discord (EnergyAddict#9726), and he will be monitoring the comments on this post as well, in case you have additional questions.
Congratulations! I love seeing Steem bring people opportunities.
Thank you! :) I do too! (and how is your book coming along?)
Thanks, it is sort of in limbo as I'm focusing on my .com site and growing it, but a lot of that content should end up being repurposed at some point and make the book.
good to know, thanks for the share
You're welcome!
Congratulations! That is awesome!
What does 800-2000 words look like? Have you started already? Is it hard to write knowing you need to write 1-2 articles a week?
800 isn't long at all...I really struggle to keep my articles down in the 1,200 word range ;) Yes, I started doing it back in June! The 1-2 article/week part doesn't make it hard to write, but the circus of kids, pets and garden do some weeks. I only committed to 1/week for that reason.
well this caught my eye!! thank you so much for sharing!! i will definitely look into it as it's right up my alley! XO
That's awesome! I'm glad it caught your eye! :)
@mtnmeadowmomma you were flagged by a worthless gang of trolls, so, I gave you an upvote to counteract it! Enjoy!!
