HAPPY WIFE HAPPY LIFE...PROJECTS MAMA WANTED BUILT (MY 200TH POST!!!!!!)

in #homesteading7 years ago

The phrase Happy Wife Happy Life is sooo true in so many ways. And the author of that phrase is wise!!

If I can keep mama happy, then the home is happy. That means I am happy! Woo Hoo!

Ok so Marian wanted a few things, simple things built that would aid her and the rest of the family in doing laundry and in organization.

The first, a table in the laundry room so she can fold clothes and then from there once the clothes were folded so could call all three of our monsters down to get their own clothes and put them away.

Say no more baby! Your wish is granted!

Using a Stud Finder, mark all the studs. I used 3" screws and attached 2x4's; one 28" and one 78" long to the back and side to the walls. Use a level to ensure your boards are level and not pitched!

I added the side and front 2x4's as well as the braces that are attached to the studs in the wall.

Here I added the center supports.

Instead of buying sheets of plywood I was able to recycle/up-cycle an interior door. Not too bad and Marian was happy with it!

HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE SCORE!!!

Many people have a calling for certain holidays. Halloween and Christmas are usually the biggies. Well Christmas is for Marian. She has sooooo many totes of varying sizes and they are all stuffed with ornaments, decorations, figurines, Rudolf plush animals, etc, etc, etc. It is a lot! So after I built her the laundry folding table, I purchased some 27 gal totes and some lumber.

BEHOLD! I GIVE YOU THE CHRISTMAS STORAGE RACK!!
It is nothing crazy or over the top. Just a simple tote rack using 2x4x104" lumber, 3" screws and a few 90 degree angle brackets to secure it to the wall. Now I have to find a home for the old Christmas tree. Deer Blind? Hmmm.

The shelves are just wide enough to fit the totes.

At least now it wont be sitting in the corner of my shop collecting dust with the potential of have rodents make their way through all her possessions!! And with everything in the same sturdy totes, it just gives it a cleaner look!!

HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE BONUS SCORE!!

Hope you enjoyed this quick rant of what I did this weekend.

MY GOAL FOR 2018 IS TO BE INTENTIONAL, WITH MY LOVE TO MY FAMILY, MY TIME, MY ACTIONS AND MY MONEY!

As always, have a great and blessed day and continue to help each other grow in knowledge.
