RE: Just Some Updates And Some Things Happening At The Homestead.

That image from Pinterest is awesome. But anyway, it sounds like you have your work cut out for yourself, especially with a bung knee. Now, enlighten me, because I'm not certain - is a 'Homestead' kind of like a specialised farm, or is it more of a house on a larger block of land. Sorry to be ignorant, its one of those words you hear batted around often, but never really know exactly what it actually is.

Thanks! A homestead is just where someone lives substantially for themselves as much as possible. Raising their own food, such as gardens and animals. It is sometimes on a 1/3 of an acre it does not have to be a big piece of land, just doing what you can for yourself and your family. I guess you could say it is a frame of mind to know where your food comes from and it is not wanting to eat all the processed food in the supermarkets. Wanting to eat meat without all the antibiotics and everything that is given to the animals to keep them healthy in the crowded conditions of the commercial farms. Yes, I have a hard road ahead and it will take some time but we will get there. I ham hoping that I can show others it can be done through Steemit and also use Steemit to help with getting some things we need here on our homestead. Have a great day!

Thanks for all of that. It makes sense that people find curating their own food more appealing than buying it from supermarkets.

I remember working in a fruit and veg supplier, a long time ago, and was loading a bin of Granny Smith apples on a truck. My boss pulled me aside and told me I had a bin of Jonathan’s, but they were completely green. Turns out they pick them about six months in advance, spray them with some chemical and let them ripen in the cool room.
