How to Weld Copper Pipe AC
How to Weld Copper Pipe AC
Brazing is a technique of grafting using a metal filler between two surfaces to be joined. The brazzing application is more difficult because it requires a higher melting temperature so it needs a hotter and steadier fire. The strength of brazzing is higher than soldering. Brazzing welding wire found in the market dah sold in ac spare parts shop.
Brazing uses a yellow-colored copper-colored welding wire.
The copper pipe material to be attached is heated to a certain temperature / copper will burn but still below the liquid point. Then the filler is heated to melt and capillally automatically seeps fill the space between the two copper pipes to be connected. This filler will melt at a temperature of about 760 oC - 870 o C.
#Equipment needed:
- Flame torch / Brazing torch
- Filler / Rod Filler (silver)
- Gas cylinders
- Can also use LPG + Tube Oxygen Tubes and equipments.
- Personal protective equipment
#Work steps :
- The surface sandpaper will be spliced until clean, both the pipe and the inside of the fittings
- Heat the surface to be joined until the red pipe surface lights up
- Paste the welding wire (silver), a good welding process will produce a welding wire which is liquid and absorbed
- directly to the surface of the pipe that is connected.
- We recommend brazzing in one step.
Heat the welding wire then give the flux, after it heat again until it looks like it will melt.
attach the welding wire, a good soldering process will produce a welding wire that is liquid and absorbed directly to the surface of the pipe that is connected.
Should do soldering / brazzing in one step.
#Noteworthy:
- Always use Google eye
- Use stone tools and gloves
- Do the work gradually and procedurally
#And here's a short duration video I upload here:
#Using Swaging
This tool to make the pipe end diameter larger so that the same size of pipe can be connected in and need a welding machine to connect it. how to use this tool is not much different by using flaring only just replace its flaring eyes only. adjust the swaging eyes with copper pipes that will be in swaging
Before connecting these ac pipes make sure that the connection is not leaked either on manual connection or connection by welding machine, if the connection by using flaring not tighten firmly on nepel-nepelnya then automatically AC is not cold because freonnya out (leak) , and also when welding pipes are already in swaging make sure the copper welding (silver) wire is already integrated with the pipes.
Hopefully useful for all streemian friends, That's my brief explanation @vanirfan about welding ac pipes, good luck and good luck. See you later on my next job or post.
Great post..
thaks friend :)
Man, I'm in welding class now and I can't believe how much harder that is than it looks!
