A little more about me
Hello Steemit Community! I figured a little bit more about me, where I come from, what I am doing, and where I am going might be in order.
Firstly, here's me, definitely real. Totoally NOT a robot.
I was born and raised in the same town I currently live in, down here in sunny ole North Florida. I always hoped I would have moved on from here by my age, 25, but apparently, life has other plans (or at least that's my excuse to myself for staying so long).
I grew up in a single wide trailer with my mother, grandfather, grandmother, and cousin. We were relatively poor during that time, but I never went without and, honestly, it was the best part of my childhood. I would spend most days following my grandfather around and watching him work with his hands repairing cars, homes, and appliances. When I wasn't following him I was learning to cook with my grandmother or playing in the neighborhood.
Nowadays, I work in the IT field doing tech support for some software you have likely never heard of and I do enjoy it quite a bit, and I feel like I learn something new every day. But IT isn't honestly what I want to do with my whole life! I spend most days daydreaming about or otherwise planning and working towards my goal of having 10-20 acres in Montana on a picturesque little homestead. I want to keep farm animals, garden, make my own things, build things myself -- basically, I want to be as self-sustaining and zero waste as possible. And, I hope to do all of this with the lovely @porkyofthepine <3.
I work towards that goal by learning everything I can now before I settle down and buy a home. I try to learn a new craft or try a new recipe as often as I can and I keep chickens and various other pets as well. I have enjoyed it all very much so far and I can hardly wait to have some land of my own. :) I hope whoever is reading this, or any of my blogs here will enjoy the journey with me, I never expected there to be so many like-minded people on Steemit but the homesteaders have been so welcoming here - big thank you to all of you!
My dreams since I can remeber is having no less than 10 acres of land. Prefer 100+ if possible! That way if land devolopes around you you will still have a good bit of nature sureounding you:) On this land would be a home I built with my love, have a farm, a giant greenhouse, and an awesome workshop to create whatever comes to mind with my own two hands!! Oh, can't forget a pool or a natural pool already on land created by mother nature herself. These are still my dreams, and hope one if these days I'll have it! I already got my love and babies. I create as often as I can, currently jewelry, but anything is on the table, haha. Dabble with growing plants when I can. The rest is still to come!
Sorry for the rant ;)
Welcome steemster! (Sister) ....just made up that word, lol
@wallfleir0n
Nice introduction, I hope you get your little homestead!!!
Wishing you tremendous successes on your Steemit journey. I applaud you for the work you're doing to pursue your dreams, and I do believe Steemit will help you to achieve the visions you're sharing here. I'm remembering a Montana farm where I worked, in the Jocko Valley (outside Missoula). Breathtakingly beautiful, and lush with greens and violets, and a goat that would devour anything in his path... May your visions propel you all the way to paradise on earth.
Montana, good ole big sky country, worked out there 4 years ago and loved it. Def a lot different than Florida that's for sure, go from sunny weather to cold weather, haha
Welcome to Steemit @waffl3ir0n. Seems like you're on the right track to creating your own 10 acre homestead in Montana...
Looking forward to more post from you. Keep up the homesteader dream.
Welcome to steemit @waffl3ir0n! I also came from the IT/tech world and ended up dreaming of homesteading in the PNW. I finally worked up the courage to take the jump into the unknown. Anyway, I wanted to say that I relate to your story and it can be done!! I am still in my own transition and journey.. but am glad I went for it :)
p.s. liking the screen name... i recently acquired a cast iron waffle maker and use it on lazy sundays :)
