How it's made: Toast and Jam. Making butter. (2/3)
Okay, part 2, we've made the jam, now on to making the butter... but first, here is the finished product:
To make butter, all you need is 35% whipping cream, and a jar. Maybe some salt. Then all you do is put the cream into the jar, put the lid on and shake it, add a little salt if you want salted butter.
And keep shaking...
It will turn into whipped cream, but keep shaking
Keep shaking....
Eventually while you are shaking it, you will hear the butter, and the butter milk separate, and you'll see this:
Drain off the butter milk, you can save this for other things, drink it, or whatever, whats left is the butter. The more you shake it now, the more buttermilk will come out, and the harder your butter will be.... I like this consistency:
As a side note, while your shaking the jar, your dog might look at you like this:
So now that the butter is done, you're going to want to keep some for the next step, making bread.
