How to Steemit... Strategy to Grow Your Steem... Power it Up!steemCreated with Sketch.

in #howto8 years ago

I have recently implemented a strategy that has put me on a clear path to my goals on Steemit. As some of you may know I plan on traveling and writing full time and because of this simple strategy, it looks like I will be to that point soon! I will be posting more about my plan when the time comes, but here is my simple growth strategy until I get to that point.

Now is the time to grow your reputation and your Steem Power by posting. Some people might not be posting as much right now because the price of Steem is down and that is exactly why you should be posting more now - less competition. Sure, it's true that you can't make as much money cashing out your Steem right now, but thats just another reason not to do that or even be concerned about how much USD your making from your posts. The key is earning Steem and powering it all up because when the price of Steem goes up in the future, all that Steem you powered up will be worth a lot more than it is right now.

Steem Power

Unless you really need the money, the move that makes the most sense is to power up everything right now. Now that your power down time is only going to be 3 months, this is just another reason to be powering up. I have been using this strategy for almost 3 weeks now and I have made more SP in those 3 weeks than I made in the almost 3 months before that.

There are a few factors involved to make that happen of course. Part of it can be attributed to having more followers and a higher reputation. There is a feedback loop that really gets going once you get to a certain point and thats when the Steem really starts rolling in. Some Steemians even call it steem rollin. It's hard to say when exactly that point is because it depends how many followers you have, who your followers are, and what your repuation is. All that being said, what really matters is the quality of your content. The other thing really matters is consistency. If you do those 2 things everything else will follow.

After getting to 1000 SP, I made this my strategy and had a total of 2000 SP two weeks later. After that I got a gigantic boost to my SP from SteemFest and now I have 4500 SP! One thing about getting Steem that way though is that your reputation remains unchanged.

Reputation

Like I said, what really matters is making quality posts. Now, what is a quality post? Really all it means is that enough people and really the right people (whales) saw value in your post. I have noticed that it happens for me when I am not thinking too much about the whales. When there is something that I truly care about and I have been thinking about and I want to write it because I really care about it. I have been writing more in this way recently and my rewards and rep have seen a definite improvement because of it.

Consistency is the other key factor with your posts. Look at any of the big content creators on Steemit, especially the ones with the highest reputations and one thing they have in common is their consistency. Some of them have slowed a bit with the price of Steem, but that just leaves more rewards for us! I was stuck at a 59 rep for weeks, but now that I have started pushing myself to put out as much quality content as I have time for, my reputation has been steadily moving a full point every few days.

And of course this post, like all my posts right now is a 100% Power Up Post!

Thanks. Good information

Great post. I think it is a great time to post it's just making the time to do it.

I agree. Thats the only hard part for me right now. Thats why I'm posting at 4 am where I'm at!

Good advices! I especially like "When there is something that I truly care about and I have been thinking about and I want to write it because I really care about it." There was a time I tried to shadow the most successful posts here and failed miserably. Since then, I stick to what I would like to read, focusing on quality and consistency, as you say, and i'm doing much better.

Thank you! Yeah, I think it's true in life and on Steemit. Do what you love and everything else will fall into place!

Thanks for your perspective Richard. I'm doing those things you suggest just don't pay nearly as much attention to my Steem as I could. And so I shall pay attention and see what happens. Going to add this to the chat room. Thanks!

Keep doing what your doing! Which chatroom?

Steemit could be confusing a times.

My Strategy:

-10 Votes and 10 Comments on Posts of Non-Followers
-Read/Watch at Least 2 Instructional/Informational Articles or Videos
-Comment on at Least 3 Follower Posts a Day (this will likely be more like 10)
-Enter 2 Contests a Day
-Publish a Unique and Valuable Post Every 2 Days (will try for every day though)

Hey @crypto-moon, that seems like a solid plan. How long do you Steem around every day?

I reckon you must be a mind reader. I have been on Steemit for 3 months this coming week. What has struck me is there has not been a lot of writing about the strategic framework. There are also quite a few moving parts which a newbie cannot really grasp. This is quite normal in any new arena - we will grasp them when we are ready. It is like explaining Fibonacci Retracements to a newbie trader on day one.

I started putting together the knowledge to build my framework these last few days. Your article helps with some strategic framework.

For me it translates into the actions I took before I read your post.

  1. 100% power up on my posts (I post regularly on Australian Native Orchids - some work some do not but the photos are great)
  2. Power up all my Steem
  3. Convert half my Steem Dollars to Steem and power up. I am keeping some Steem Dollars to pay for stuff - like the next Steemfest.
  4. Invest some of my Bitcoin mining profits into Steem - and powered up.
  5. Also doing a little work on robots for voting - testing that concept out

Now look forward to postings about some of the other things I like to work on - investing, cycling, travelling, cryptocurrency.

Steem on

I reckon you are reading my mind and I think you are going to do quite well. I would like to read about all those things. I am very interested in investing, traveling, and cryptocurrency, and I am a huge proponent of healthy diet and exercise habits, so the more I learn about cycling the better. I only have a mountain bike right now but I really like the adventure of trail riding. I would also like to get to a point that I don't use a fossil fuel burning vehicle as much and ultimately not at all, but I think it will take some time to get us all there.

Great info! Thanks!
