#10 Humans Of Steemit : @redrica (An International Intuitive Cryptolover Mama)

10.png

The wonderful world of Steemit, I introduce to you, a lady so great by the name of @redrica.

AKA Enrica the deep thinker, being an intuitive parent.

But I'll stop right here and let her tell you herself!

ENJOY!

Just before we start, I am going to give you a bit of background info on Humans Of Steemit!

Humans Of Steemit showcases YOU.
Show who you are.
Get down to the nitty gritty of your entire being.
Steemit would not be here if it weren’t for you.
Steemit would not be good if it weren’t for you.

Recently, there has been a lot of speculation on the automatism (our beloved and not so beloved bot friends), being on here purely for monetary gains and where the humanity is missing on Steemit.

So let’s set that aside and show the humanity here. The people. You. We. Us.

There are two aspects to Humans Of Steemit!

A Q&A and Fun Crazy Steemit Thing!

Q&A

A Q&A to dive deep into the souls of the Humans Of Steemit!
The questions are designed to unearth the real Steemian beneath the username and avatar.
To show you the realest real they are.
From silly to serious to funny to deep.
All the Q's are in there.

Fun Crazy Steemit Thing

is the space in which you can totally let go and be YOURSELF.
Show who you are.
Whether that’s a crazy dance video of you doing your ‘I am drunk and have no idea what I am doing but I am enjoying myself dance’ or you singing at your best to your fave karoake tune or a drawing of you looking all peaceful and wonderful or the best photo you ever took or ANYTHING!
As long as it is YOURS.
As long as it represents YOU!

Plus the deal is that ALL the SBD from this post (after payout) is transferred to the Human Of Steemit that is featured!
I get to keep the SP for organizing this, putting it all together and whatnot!

Whoop whoop!
Exciting stuff right?
So let's get right to it!

Q&A

Who are you? Tell us anything and everything you’d like us to know about you!

My name is Enrica. I was born in Hong Kong, and now happily live in the UK. I'm a wife and mother of 2 pretty awesome, and pretty insane in the membrane kids. My life at the moment mainly consists of spending time with family, and raising and home educating those two cheeky monkeys, and everything else that I can fit in between. I was studying for a degree (mainly in Maths) the last 6 years up until June, and am now on a much needed break to continue next year. We like to travel when we can, and hope to one day worldschool, because I want my children to get to know the world we live in first hand. I have a pretty child led, intuitive parenting style, I believe in the power of being connected with your children, and have been trying (through much trial and error) to raise my children to feel loved, valued, respected, amazing and whole. I'm pretty passionate about motherhood, especially surrounding birth. I had a water birth for my 1st and a home water birth for my 2nd, and very grateful that both birthing experiences were so amazing and empowering (I sometimes even think about having more just for the birthing experience and the baby phase). I'm really happy I got into crypto a few months ago and am coming to understand the spirit of investing, I love that it is such a great possible way of achieving abundance. I also love music (mostly into rock/metal and classical) and art (I used to do a bit of photography) and languages (I speak around 4) and cultures (I'm mixed, so am fairly multi-cultured), and of course food (I can be very adventurous with food) and cooking (my favourite to cook is hearty, belly warming foods)! I think this is a pretty good description for now!

What makes your heart smile?

Connecting with others and making friends. Meeting other like minded people. Feeling inspired and uplifted from a conversation. Watching my kids being happy and free. Cooking for and watching my loved ones enjoy the food. Seeing loved ones (and myself!) find their purpose and passions. Synchronicities, especially in numbers and time (always happy to see the 11:11, 22:22s). When things fall into place perfectly. Win wins. Seeing and understanding the bigger picture. Visualizing my future. So much more :) (I loved this question, because when I was thinking of more things that made my heart smile, I loved that I could just keep going and going. I've come a really long way to finally feel this way about my life!)

How did you get onto Steemit?

My not so active Steemian husband started here in January and mentioned Steemit, but never pushed the idea on me. But June/July this year, I had finally finished my exams for the year and had a bit more space and time, and I just felt the nudge to get myself into crypto and naturally Steemit!

Where do you want to die?

Where? Somewhere pretty and poetic would be nice. Somewhere secluded and off the grid, maybe in a cozy cabin in the mountains, or in a hut on a tropical island. I'm pretty flexible though ;)
And ideally I would love to die in my sleep, after I've lived a much longer and even fuller life of course!

What’s something you DON’T like about all this new technology?

I don't like that it can create a lot of distractions, and potentially lead to less (in person) human interaction. But I love that it can connect so many of us (no matter the distance), I am very grateful to be able to speak to my sister who is thousands of miles away at the click of a button.

What mistake do you keep making and why?

I relate to another Steemian who answered this question, who said that they don't really believe in mistakes. I prefer to see them as challenges/life lessons that keep coming back, to teach me something I still need to learn. Essentially this:

And in that light, I'd say a recurring challenge of mine is controlling and expressing my emotions healthily, setting healthy boundaries, and being fair with my expectations.

Is there anything you wish you could unlearn?

What can happen in child abductions. But at the same time, it is only when something is exposed, can we decide as humans what we are happy to keep doing as a species and what we are not.

If there was something you could un-do, what would it be?

I'd be tempted to, but everything is as it should be, so I better not.

Imagine that you magically have the ability to keep being alive without sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

Do things that I can only really do without the kids around (aka when they sleep), like Steemit and watching movies and my other hobbies. But of course this wouldn't work, because they wouldn't be sleeping either, and I have to be honest, the thought of them never sleeping is a very distressing thought to me hahah..

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve done that actually turned out pretty well?

Ok.. this is very private information that for some reason I am deciding to share on the blockchain. When I was only 2 months into my relationship with my now husband, I had the crazy idea to get his intials (in binary and morse code) tattooed on a birth mark I have that looks like an island (hahah random af), and yes I really did do it. And well, I guess it worked like a prophecy? We've now been together for 10 years, so I'd say it turned out pretty well. But also in my defence at the time, his intitals are letters you can find in my last name, so I knew I could change it very easily if it turned out to be a truly stupid thing, plus I was young and in love!

What makes your belly ache with laughter?

Whose line is it anyway?. Silly/funny things kids say or do. Some Stephen Chow movies. Watching a cosmic joke unfold. Dark humor, sometimes.

Tell us about 1 significant event in your life that really made you who you are.

The most significant event in this past decade was definitely becoming a parent. I had my kids young (not teenager young, but early 20s young), and it was unplanned, so we were pretty unprepared. Before we had kids, I was also going through a tough self-discovery phase in my life, I was depressed, and had no sense of purpose or direction, to put it simply, and my husband wasn't far off himself at the time. And when we found out we were pregnant, we had basically nothing (he had no income and was in fact homeless, sleeping on his friend's couch at the time) and I was still a student, studying a degree that I didn't enjoy and was happy to have to quit. It was a really stressful time, for many other reasons as well, but deep down we knew we could do it, and becoming parents has truly turned our lives around. We had to fix up (inwards and outwards) because we were now responsible for another life. Since then, we got married, I started doing a distance learning degree (mainly in Maths) after my first was born, and was committed to it, and my husband (who is actually very smart and multi-talented) stepped up big time, and everything just somehow worked out. It hasn't been totally smooth sailing these last 6 years, and it's also been a long and tough journey of more needed self improvement, but we've learnt and grown so much, and we are very happy to be where we are now. Becoming a parent has taught me soooo much about myself, and I feel honoured that I was blessed with this experience.

What would be the scariest monster you could imagine?

A very funny change of tone from the previous question, and I am trying hard to think of one. I guess if someone I really loved, like my kids maybe, became actual zombies. That wouldn't be very nice.

What does Steemit mean for you?

I think Steemit is an amazing platform, where people are appreciated, rewarded and encouraged for being creative, genuine, expressive, and much more. It provides soo many opportunities for sooo many people, and it is also connecting A LOT of different types of people from all around the world, and I think that is just amazing! It is also helping a lot of people create a better life for themselves, and I like that!

If you could change your name, what would you change it to?

I've come to really own my name, so I don't think I'd want to change it really. If you asked me when I was younger though, I'd probably want to change it to something weird and unique like Phrae or something like that.

Which person inspires you the most and why do they inspire you?

So many people. But what first came to mind is actually future me. I can visualize the person I want to be (future me), and am using that as inspiration now to try and be that person. And on that note, I also look back on past me, I remember the many times when I was younger, when I would think about the type of person I wish I'd be when I'm older. I have to thank past me for taking the time then to think about what past me wants for future me (especially now knowing the power of visualization and manifestation), and I'm glad that past me would definitely be pretty happy with how present me turned out (phew!).

What are you insecure about?

I consider myself a fairly confident person and I used to be more artsy and creative when I was younger, but now most of the time, I don't create as much because I feel like "what if it's not good enough". I used to also be quite insecure about my singing voice, I love music and I love singing, but I just never stepped up with it. I hope that will change though. One of these days, I'd love to join the open mic challenge (There, I've said it, so I have to do it now :P)

Describe your ideal life.

Any version that has any or all of these things: Self sufficiency. Open space. Animals. Work from home. Digital nomadic. Travelling. Home educating/Worldschooling. Near water, ideally the sea. Lots of nature. Happy children. Good, nourishing food. Optimum health. Financial abundance. Healthy relationships with loved ones. Good music. Good internet. Homes all over the world. Meeting my potential. Doing what I love. Giving back to the community/world. Helping others.

I am very grateful that my life does consist of a lot of these beautiful things already :)

Have you ever saved someone’s life?

My children! Their lives started off being completely dependant on me afterall..

What do other people think is weird about you?

Weird in a "good" way? My sneeze I guess, it is pretty weird, but not offensive.
Weird in a "bad" way? I can be very blunt sometimes, and can/have in the past unintentionally triggered the easily triggered.

What do you think is one of the best things about you?

I'm told that I can give really good gifts. And I do love giving gifts, so yes I accept.

What’s one responsibility you really wish you didn’t have?

When I was a newer mom, I really wished I didn't have to cut baby/toddler's nails, god damn can it be scary.. I've since looked that task in the face though and have now owned it, and now I love the challenge of cutting a baby/toddler's nails, and only do it when they're awake!

If you had a personal flag, what would be on it?

A peace symbol of some sort

If a genie granted you 3 wishes right now, what would you wish for?
  • Love and abundance for all
  • For everyone to know their power and worth, and ideally use it for good
  • For all the parents in the world to wake up feeling like they've had the best sleep ever, no matter the actual duration
What do you think about when you’re by yourself?

Whatever suits the mood or occasion. I do love a good thinking. I tend to keep it pretty positive nowadays though, unless some darker thoughts/emotions need my attention for a good reason.

What would you want to be written on your tombstone?

Not sure if I can picture myself with a tombstone. But if I did have one, I'd probably want a pretty, decorative one, with some cool art on it, and just my name probably.

Who is the person you trust most?

My husbum. He knows my best and worst and loves me for it (score!). And he knows me inside and out (ahem)...

What’s your favourite word?

Cheating a little bit here, but one of my favourite "words" is 囍 (It means double happiness and it is visually what it means literally, because it's the character for happiness 喜, twice). I love how it looks and I love the meaning. It is used a lot in Chinese weddings.
I also love "kili kili", which is Tagalog (Filipino language) for arm pit.

Who is your fave (or one of your favourite) Steemians and why?

@michellecarter, she was one of the first people on Steemit I really connected with, and I love what she stands for!
@stackin, he really seems like a great person, I love that he actively engages with pretty much everyone who engages with him. He's done so well on Steemit in the 6 months he's been here and he really deserves it.
@eco-alex, this guy just posts about so many amazing and interesting topics. From science to deep stuff to natural homes. And he always engages back!
Quite a few more tbh, but these are the first 3 that come to mind, and I just realized you only asked for one, but I'm sure you won't mind.

If you were arrested with no explanation, what would your friends and family assume you had done?

Haha this is a very funny thought, being who I am now. But I guess they'd most likely assume it's because of dodgy dealings with bitcoin and crypto or something like that haha.

When you looked in the mirror first thing this morning, what was the first thing you thought?

Should I brush my teeth now or later..

What’s the most ridiculous fact you know?

Where our current fiat money comes from

What is something that you just recently realized that you are embarrassed you didn’t realize earlier?

More ashamed and sad than embarassed, that I have been taking certain loved ones for granted big time, and now I'm paying for it big time also. At least I'm learning from it though..

What is your nickname?

Mica. Also, my daughters sometime like to call me poo poo mommy, and I will insist that it is for endearing reasons.

As a Human Of Steemit, how do you contribute to Steemit?

I love this platform, and have always sung praises of/promoted it to whichever friend/family member I feel I should promote it to. I don't get to post much at the moment, but I hope that I have given value through my interactions with other people on their posts, and through the odd post that I do get to do. And if I see a cause on Steemit that is worth supporting, I upvote, resteem and donate SBD if I can. I invested a tiny bit on Steem, and will hopefully invest more very soon. And I do hope I can one day be even more involved with Steemit, I love the work @promo-steem UK do, and would love to help out when I can. And lots more ideas I hope to get started on soon!

Fun Crazy Steemit Thing

This is a painting I've commissioned an amazing artist (I found on Steemit a few months ago) @adammillwardart to do for me! I love it! It's a mandala, based on a peace symbol I have loved for a long time. There's more to the story, but I'm waiting to have the painting here first so I can do a proper post about the whole story and process. It is currently on its way to me from Canada, and should be here in the next few days! I can't wait to have it here with me :D

Enrica, you inspired me with who you are as a whole.
I love how you are raising your kiddos from intuition.
You are so multi-faceted and talented, it really inspires me and I hope you share more of who you are on Steemit because I think you are TRUE asset to this community.
You also give me trust in the fact that when I take the lifepath of motherhood, that I'll do it from the heart.
(Mamahood scares the fuck out of me)

And thanks for introducing your favorite Steemians - I'm following them now, too!

Hi @connecteconomy! Thanks for taking the time to read it :) I related to a lot of your interview, so I'm glad you felt the same with mine!

Really nice surprise to know you're also into rock/metal though! I'm glad I decided to include that in my interview now :D Who are your favourite bands?

Uhm... Metallica? ;)
I bought METAL mainly because of the name, LOL

Haha I don't blame you! It caught my eye too because of its name ;)

@redrica,

I am following Anja's free e-mail course and it has really helped me understand the blockchain and cryptoworld A LOT more!

I can highly suggest it :)
