RE: When Your Car Is Smarter Than You
The future cars will probably not have any doors anymore. As they can do anything by themself, there is no need for someone sitting inside of it. And you can check at any time where it is from home via Google Maps. :)
You know, that reminds me of when Americans were designing the first space capsules, and didn't put a window in them. When the astronauts protested, the designers were honestly puzzled--after all, the astronauts didn't actually need to see, just use the control buttons! They didn't get that exploration, not technology, was the whole point of sending men up there. Self-driving delivery trucks are fine, but if I'm going to have a car anyway, I want to control where it's going--not to mention I want to be in it when it goes!
Of course, I was just kidding. Whats the point of having a car if you dont sit in it? :)
However, the selfdriving technology as such sure has some advantages as well. It could reduce the stupidity factor in traffic quiet a lot. And even someone who is not acting foolish can make a mistake once in a while. Happened to me before, and can happen to everybody - thats the human factor.
I can think of some times people might not want to sit in their cars. Picking up people from the airport, taking their in-laws places ... put a little arm that swings out to pick things up, and suddenly you can send your car by itself to any place with a drive-through window. It's genius!
