SingularityNET: The Decentralised Marketplace for AI

in #ico7 years ago (edited)

Finally found an interesting project to report on. SingularityNET is building out a protocol for the future of an open AI economy. It's truly an epic undertaking, just take a look at the whitepaper. There are detailed and comprehensive plans involving lifelong AI developers with business experience. Last I read somewhere, but don't quote me on this, there's already an estimate of $100 million contribution projected for the upcoming ICO.

Another thing I like about this project is that it solves the Assignment of Credit problem in developing efficient AIs. Imagine hiring a bot that manages its own budget while at the same time, participates in the AI economy, providing services, seeking alpha, and trading autonomously with other bots in its cluster. Amazing opportunities for AI development if its on an open, decentralised network, like what they're trying to go for. This is a very ambitious project that may take quite some time to roll out, but boom, I was surprised that it's as close as mid-2018. I'll be wary of such tight deadlines though. They are too often broken in the cryptosphere.

Maybe I'm getting numbed by crypto-related projects, but I'm definitely keeping an eye out on SingularityNET. I think it's a great move into the right direction for open-source AI development that works in favour of social good. Clearly, Dr. Ben Goertzel has thought about this whole thing for a long time now. Check out the video below. There's even mention of IOTA and EOS being possible candidate platforms.

Check out their website and materials at https://singularitynet.io. For one, I'm pretty excited to see such a project being rolled out. As always, this is not to be taken as financial advice. What are your thoughts?

Sort:

Absolutely. KYC is a bitch but worth doing this one anyway I reckon.

That is what I am worrying too, ATM. No information so far regarding the specifics of the KYC, and I have been sending support ticket regarding possible requirements and there were no response. Just waiting until the next email comes along. KYC is absolutely a sucker and I can't just let this historic event pass without contributing a dime!

aaand they want full KYC. I'm out

Just received the KYC details few hours ago, and my apprehension has just been confirmed! Governments all around the world ruined every thing about individual freedom, what a load of crap! I have been attempting to upload my document almost a hundred times already, even cleared my cookies but the system won't recognize my document.

Fuck them all they are all both ass holes! And I don't even live in the US nor Canada but they are making this as difficult as finding a job! I'm done here. Throw out my arms and give up the fight!

The money I have reserved for this will now go to BTS, which is the most logical move ATM. Wish they will be able to bring Skynet to life. Good for them!

sorry but what is KYC? thanks.

Yes I understand now. Thanks. I also heard about the equifax hack. Those big shots at the firm who sold their options and stocks before equifax disclosed the hack was never found guilty of insider trading. Yet the mistake is being pinned on one guy that did not update a specific server. one person? Why does it feel like the system is always being manipulated?

Yeah hopefully i don't need to whip up my scanner and stuff. quite a turn off when we can get the tokens without kyc when its out in the market anyway

thanks for showing me this, I will inspect it :)

Everyone who builds a AI is in my opinion not smart. If the AI learns enough about mankind it wil evantualy eridicate every human it can find. We are a cancer on planet earth!

Wow, I'm happy you shared this, only half way through the talk I'm feeling hyped about it. I'm wondering why we don't just go ahead and build a complementing SMT for the community building the AI to communicate on developments and share contributions for rewards in utopian style.

You gotta check this out @howo , another whitepaper for you to read I suppose :P Something to supplement our satellite imagery idea?

All projects really should use SMTs on the side..

Checking it out @fredrikaa thanks! Edit: lol @fredrikaa, I thought you were mentioning @howo as a new project with a whitepaper :P Coincidentally, I've worked on satellite imagery pattern recognition as part of my thesis before :)

Hahah, no, I was telling howo to come check out your article and SingularityNet :P both because it is his field of interest and also because we've been brainstorming a bunch of ideas for how to combine the benefits of AI and STEEM to create new applications using satellite images.

Really cool to hear that you've worked on that though! We definitely need to talk then :) enabling new innovation around the use of earth observation data is what I currently do at the space agency.

I watched the video and it looks like a good project and most likely a good investment as well. . .I'm not big on AI from a personal perspective. . stuff is just too creepy for my liking. . . . Maybe I am a bit too cautious, but what happens long term when machine learning starts to outpace human capabilities intellectually, physically, etc. . Giving emotions to something that doesn't feel emotion is a little much, imho.

Well i'm no human supremacist.. lol. I think AI will be our second nature though. We're pretty much forged by our environment after all..

One of the best articles i've seen on SingularityNet. I may be a bit biased... I am their social media manager.

Thanks? Lol. And nice on landing the position! Just recently I guess? I haven't been keeping track of this but I do hold an of AGI along with AGRS for my "AI basket". Anything I can help out with?

I was watching singularitynet for a while....Goertzel is a unique persona but he knows his stuff....there is no doubt about it.

Open AI is the answer to what the doomsday people like Musk says about AI (ironically he has a company working on a brain-computer interface so he seems a bit hypocritical there). We are moving towards de-centralized open platforms. The siloed internet is going to die. First the bankers are on the hit list as the financial arena gets upended and then the likes of Google and FB will be hit.

The movement is just too obvious. There are a ton of people with development skills who arent of the corporate mindset. These DIYers are the new breed of innovator. They like to collaborate but on their own terms and in their own hives, not one established by the name on the sign outside the building.

I think this will be participated by corps and large companies. Great for AI enthusiasts, labs and researchers all around since there’s a pool to provide funding as well :)

AI is a fascinating topic since it can help people work less but I think that AI is mostly looking scary to people because it's something entirely new, revolutionary. And maybe because of the movies about robots taking over the world, lol.

You probably don't remember me, but I used to check your posts a long time ago until you stopped posting. What happened?

I'm glad you're back, btw. :D

Pretty sure AI will be a big thing looking at how things are going. Thanks man, I plan on writing more, just that stuff I really wanna write are mostly still in draft and proving difficult to do so as time goes on, plenty of research :)

AI it's going to be huge for sure. Feel that, I have a few ideas I want to write about too, but it takes so much time to do them since they are so many. :))

@kevinwong - AI is already coming in in a big way in automobiles and medical equipment. This concept of decentralized development may help in abolishing monopoly of large corporations on cutting edge AI development and hence may promote collaborative development at a very fast pace. Interesting development to watch indeed, Thanks for giving us heads up on this. Upvoted full.

When you have time, I request your comments on my latest blogs. I will learn a lot from your sharing your views. Thanks

@vm2904

this one is quite likely gonna be huge.

this and Iota are my top 2 picks of the year.

Too many moving parts though, but yeah I think one is super epic lol
