Getting into the world of cryptocurrencies can start off by not knowing how to obtain cryptocurrencies. When diving into the world of cryptocurrencies many of the exchanges are US/USD orientated. For Dutch people (like myself) this is a bit of a hurdle to start getting into the world of cryptocurrency.

This is my overview of top exchanges that accept iDEAL as payment option to buy cryptocurrency tokens.

iDEAL??

iDEAL is a Dutch payment gateway to make online payments thought your own bank. A well accepted way of paying for services/good online in The Netherlands. When I started investing/trading into the world of cryptocurrencies I needed to get started by getting BTC, ETH and LTC. I didn’t have any mining options, nor did I want to go onto the US/UK exchanges. I searched for the exchanges that supported iDEAL in order to buy cryptocurrency tokens.

My top 4 exchanges that accept iDEAL

In my search for a smooth experience, getting value for money and a variety of coins available I ended up with these top 5 parties.

_#4 https://btcdirect.eu, holds a supply of BTC, ETH, LTC in either buy or sale. Had a smooth experience although their fee seems on the high end. When purchasing the delivery went quickly and without any hassle.
_#3 https://bitrush.nl/nl, holds a supply of BTC, ETH, LTC and DASH in buy or sale. Used bitrush a few times now, smooth experience and reasonable fees.
_#2 https://www.litebit.eu/en, although their fees are the highest of all, their platform offers the most alt-coins available. The way they offer a portfolio look into your investments is a great feature. They offer buy and sale, but wouldn’t recommend selling at LiteBit, they seem to charge high fees.
_#1 https://bitonic.nl/ The first Dutch Bitcoin exchange in The Netherlands. Their support is fantastic and their fees are the lowest around. The downside is that they only sell BTC.

Storing your cryptocurrency

Be aware that the above exchanges do not hold your tokens, except for LiteBit. These exchanges offer a way to buy cryptocurrency by using iDEAL as payment gateway.

You have to download the wallet of the chosen cryptocurrency in order to receive coins. Please be careful and thoughtful on getting into the world of cryptocurrency. My favorite way of storing my coins is on cold-storage, such as Ledger and Trezor.
