Contratos são a base da civilização, são os termos pelos quais dois indivíduos consentem em interagir para um certo fim qualquer. Se contratos não são cumpridos, não há como prever o que vai acontecer, não há como se defender de quebras e fraudes, nem existe possibilidade de atividade econômica.

Quando a justiça estatal se recusa a fazer valer um contrato, causa insegurança jurídica, aumenta custos e afasta quem quer empreender, investir e empregar. O resultado disso é simples: pobreza.
