Allow me to say that no one is ultimately fit and healthy. We all have gaps in our lifestyles with bad practices that we never get past. Being fit is misconstrued to be well built with muscles distinctively defined while been healthy mistaken for lack of illness or ailments. Most people live in resentment that they have no one to talk to them about lifestyle change but here I am.
Similar to the journey to being successful, health and fitness is no different. The principles applicable to any life improvement decision could apply on all scopes but on a different context. So as the weekend crawls in, I have a four-step summary of what you should do to stop living unfit and unhealthy or simply put- sedentary lifestyle.
Get Your Power back
The worst thing that can happen to you in this life is someone else been in possession of your capabilities. What this means is most of us live a larger part of our lives depending on decisions made by others concerning us. In this context, you know what lifestyle you want lead most a definitely a healthy one. Don't wait for someone to tell you you are overweight yet you can feel it and see it!
Take charge of your lifestyle right now and ACT now! Why blame others for your mistakes? "I drink because my friends buy me alcohol", while you have a choice not pick up that glass of beer but opt for a smoothie. It is all about been in charge of who we are and we soon become better than we could ever imagine.
Believe in You.
Before I proceed into the second step, I must acknowledge that we all believe in ourselves and kudos to everyone. Nevertheless, some of us the belief powers get shuttered right at the same point where believe in us- sounds great? Probably not.
Honestly speaking, we currently live in a time where our opinions and expressions are not subject to any authoritative judgement. Hence we think we are all right in whatever we do. This is the most dangerous thing our belief can be subjected to, why?
Think of a young seedling when not watered, weeded and looked after as it should, it will die. So if something simple and easy to look after such as seedling can quickly lose its worth what about something complex and natural such as belief? It dies and fades off!
Let's translate this to your daily lifestyle. If your diet, sleeping patterns, water intake, physical activity levels, drug abuse among others are not well taken care of, we lose our belief power in leading a healthy lifestyle.
I was at the same point before I lost my first 5 pounds but since then i realized it was just because i could not believe in me to start. Grasp some faith and courage then start now!
It's never too late.
Define Your Map and Stick to It
I personally love Michael The Passenger singer of the hit soft rock; Moving in the wrong Direction. In this song, he reckons how taking the wrong direction is frustrating and weirdly you always know it will be obviously not right.
I believe you would never embark on a journey without map directions. So why risk with your lifestyle? The map in this case are lifestyle goals that you need to accomplish. The biggest mistake we make every time is thinking we can assume an idea and come back at it some other day. Define the idea by writing it down.
Take time to think what needs to change in your lifestyle and how you will achieve the same. Start by making baby steps/small goals then with consistency and patient you will achieve the others with ultimate ease.
Burst Out of Your Shell
Wow, we've really made some good progress together. We started at getting your power back, believing in us then defining our lifestyle map and finally we need to burst out of our comfort zones/shell. You must have had someone talk about the same phenomenon but many of us don't realize why and how we should it.
Before you get here, you dream plan is worth it and you are a living proof so just one single step and you are victor! For change to happen in your lifestyle then it's time we saw noticeable actions in your life done by you. For example, deciding to pay for swimming membership at the nearest spa in the neighborhood rather than pay for the beer club.
Be very careful to get involved with the right company as change is not as easy as said but with the right moral support we all can do unimaginable things.
