A City In The Clouds - Pen and Ink Drawing with some supporting sketches and time-lapse video.

This huge flying city remains airbourne most of the time, it’s people living and working in the sky.

Small, one-man, motor balloons patrol the surrounding airspace checking the weather and spotting air pirates.

The city can land in large flat areas, arriving like a huge state fair, with visitors travelling from miles around to buy exotic goods and weird machinery.

The large theatrical entrance at the base of the city welcomes the earth-bound for a taste of the strange city’s freedoms.

Inspired in no small part by Laputa from Gulliver’s Travels, with a debt to Miyazaki.

This is a large one at approx. 841mm (width) x 594mm (height)

I drew it using Rotring Isograph Pens.
