THE IMPORTANCE OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

in #importance3 years ago

Emotional intelligence (otherwise known as emotional quotient or EQ) is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.

Why is emotional intelligence so important?

It’s not the smartest people who are the most successful or the most fulfilled in life.

High emotional intelligence can help you navigate the social complexities of the workplace, lead and motivate others, and excel in your career.
High EQ results in good physical health.
Uncontrolled emotions and stress can also impact your mental health, making you vulnerable to anxiety and depression. People with high EQ are good at dealing with mentally taxing emotions and have peace of mind.
People with high EQ are better able to express how they feel and understand how others are feeling. This allows them to communicate more effectively and forge stronger relationships.

How Prayatna teach EQ through Storytelling?

EQ is not acquired but learned, and anyone can develop it especially children

Every Sunday, Storytelling activities are conducted with children.
Stories from Indian classics, Epics, Folklores, Fables, Jatak Katha, Panchtantra are read and discussed.
Children from the age group 8-16 participate in the group and develop problem-solving capacities.

Why is Prayatna teaching EQ?

EQ is the most neglected part of our curriculum.
In the race to secure better academic results, schools often forget about the importance of EQ for children.
No matter what your career choice is, you need a good EQ to succeed and be satisfied.
Primary education is the right time to teach EQ, which is often ignored.
