What The World Thinks Of Indian States, According To Google

in #india7 years ago

Google Auto-complete is a great way to find out what the hive-mind is thinking. The feature has been around for more than 10 years; the suggestions are based on the popularity of what people type into the search engine.

Reddit user ‘kuttanpilla’ recently posted an awesome map of India with the first auto-complete suggestion for each Indian state.

The map shows up some interesting generalisations — users seem to be most concerned about why Karnataka is the most corrupt, why Gujarat is a dry state, why Arunachal Pradesh is disputed, and why Madhya Pradesh is poor.

Corruption, cheating and frauds are in the blood and DNA of Indians. Even corrupt and tainted politicians like Lalu Yadav, Mayawati, Karunanidhi, Badals, Mulayam Singh, Panwar, Sonia Gandhi etc are elected and voted by Indian voters again and again.

This is a very good step. Only those teachers and principals should be promoted and given the annual increments who catch and report cheating in exams, evaluation and admissions.

This rent a cause couple have gone overboard trying hard to appease, God knows whom. They come across as die hard propagandists for the government. A track record as mascot for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, followed by Toilet: Ek Prem Katha , Padman et. al. By default or design, they link the campaign for a clean India with menstrual hygiene, making the whole exercise counterproductive. The message unwittingly conveyed is that the personal hygiene of Indian women is a dirty picture that needs cleaning. Empathy seems somehow lost in the hype! And that's not fair. Can you blame the viewer, if she thinks: What's next? A strict quota plan to link every sanitary pad to the user's Aadhar card?! Some columnists have already gone from educational to gross in their descriptions. Tomorrow some fool will extend the logic: 'We're here because of sex. It's natural, nothing to be ashamed about it. So, it should be done openly!' Gender sensitivity is not achieved by men posing with or wearing sanitary pads, talking about the issue or making a song and dance about it. Women have periods. What's personal and private and what's public can neither be mixed nor imposed. Where's the balance? India needs entertainment with only a touch of enlightenment, in line with Tare Zameen Par , 3 Idiots, Munnabhai MBBS, etc., not propaganda stuffed down our throats. Seriously, too much of anything can be too bad. Let's not lose our humor while we're at it, nor trigger male menopause by watching this period film.

Mr Ankur Pathak - Just wondering why did you have to specify the word 'Catholic' in the below paragraph?Sanjay Chaturvedi (Vicky Kaushal) is one such urban-dweller who's spent his life in railway quarters his father was allotted because of his government job. As the Dad prepares for retirement, he aspires to escape his reality and fantasizes about a house of his own – a dream shared by his Catholic colleague, Karina D'souza (Angira Dhar), and most people who reside in rented apartments in Mumbai.
