Loku Festival of Nocte Tribe
Loku or Chalo Loku festival from Arunchal Pradesh in India is a grand festival of the Nocte tribe. This is a harvest festival which is celebrated with great pomp and show. Chalo dances of the Nocte tribe add color to the festivities. This is three days long festival. The first day is called Phamlamja and pigs & buffaloes are slaughtered for the feast. The second day called Chamkatja is an important day as the male members of the family become full-fledged members of the decision making committee called Paang. The final day of the festival, Thanlagja is the day of fun and frolic as the tribals present folk dances.
