So this is my first posting on Steemit and thought this might make for a good first post.

I will do a follow up post on clubs that pretty friendly towards touring bands.

Basically, the template below has been used to book three tours across the United States for my band estocar. Each tour lasted a month and we played almost every night so this template most have done something right.

One last tip is to break up the section into easy to read chunks just like this post. The white spaces are your friends.

Please note that there are typos and a grammar errors. This is done on purpose. I want it to look interpersonal and not overly polished.

Before You Craft The Email Make Sure Your Subject Line Stands Out. For my band I used the following:

Estocar Seattle/Portland Touring Band Booking Inquiry

Part 1 Who are you, what instrument you play, and where are you from?

Why? Bookers can be a little friendly to a touring band that is getting in the van.

My name is Sean Kearney and I play drums and handle the booking for the Seattle/Portland band Estocar.

Part 2 What do you want?

I wanted to inquiry about playing INSERT CLUB NAME on: Day of The Week, Month, Date

Saturday, June 21st

Part 3 Where will you be the night before and the night after. This is a very important part of the email.

Bookers are also more likely to book a band if they know you are headed their way.

We will be playing NAME OF CLUB Day of The Week, Month, Date

Part 4 Find some kind of easy way for the booker to reject you.

Feel free to hurt our feelings if you dont think we are a good fit we are well aware we aint everyones cup of tea.

Part 5 What sets your band apart from all the other bands? Focus on the quirky and weird.

Some people say we are an an acquired taste that sound like the Talking Heads meets Joy Division meets the B-52s meets The Velvet Underground at a Taco Truck. Yes, thats alot of meetings. Please note that we are not a punk band, but have definitely got a mini-monopoly on being off center.

We are a three piece. The drummer plays a vintage Frankenstein drum set along with a 1978 Pollard Syndrum (used by the Cars) Electronic Drums. The Guitarist/Lead Singer and out bass players uses loops and a selection of analog guitar pedals.

What else you got? Strut that your scrappy and resourceful. What does that mean?

Its just not enough to show up and play. Tell them you will send posters, maybe do a street performance that afternoon, your working on booking an in studio at the local radio station and/or record store.

Will you help book bands for local support? Yes, your band may be great, but you need local support so that people will hear your great band. Will you be willing to go the extra mile and get local support? If yes then your more likely be able to book the desired date.

Part 6 Give them online link to listen to your music.

Here is a teaser taste from our latest album called Brand New Neutral of a song called Mindful Meandering:
