Tata surya dipercaya terbentuk sejak 4.600 juta tahun yang lalu, yang merupakan hasil penggumpalan 15 gas debu di angkasa yang membentuk matahari dan kemudian planet-planet yang mengelilingi matahari. Fenomena alam merupakan hal-hal yang dapat disaksikan oleh panca indra dan dapat diterangkan secara ilmiah atau peristiwa yang tidak dapat diabaikan. Fenomena alam juga diartikan peristiwa yang tidak biasa dan patut diperhatikan dan adakalanya menandakan akan terjadi sesuatu. Seperti fenomena alam Gerhana bulan yang terjadi pada tanggal 31 januari 2018 sekitaran pukul 18 : 48 sampai dengan pukul 22 : 11 Wib.

Gerhana secara bahasa dapat diartikan sebagai suatu kejadian dimana tertutupnya sumber cahaya oleh benda lain, gerhana juga diartikan sebagai kejadian tertutupnya arah pandang pengamatan benda langit oleh benda langit lainnya yang lebih dekat dengan pengamat. Menurut kajian ilmu Falaq, gerhana berlaku apabila terjadi persilangan antara orbit Bumi, Bulan dan Matahari. Gerhana merupakan peristiwa langka yang tidak setiap gerhana dapat kita saksikan, dalam agama Islam terdapat beberapa dalil yang menjadi sumber hukum dari gerhana.
