The future (Part 1)
So, in my first blog on steemit I would like to talk a bit about the past and the road to the future. Or at least an alternative future I think humans should strive for. (Edit: Looks like there is enough to write several blogs, so I think this will be the first of a series)
The world now have several major and unnecessary problems, probably anchored in our unenlightened past and prejudice.
Inequality is justified by the motivation of our smartest, ambitious and hardworking. I'm not gone go into the justification of this. I like the reply given by RSA Animation:
I will rather talk a bit about why do we believe this... or maybe how do we believe this. Because most people DO believe the best of us need to become rich to share their skills with the world. Even if we want the rich to bay their fair share of taxes, we are afraid of what will happen if they stop. The result a political climate that is easy to manipulate for the powerful. This is a bit of track from what I want to talk about, but I will add one question. Why do we motivate the rich with easy money, while we "motivate" the poor by taking away their economic support? What is the logic that tell us poor people need to starve of their lazy asses, and get out to find a job. While the rich needs tax cut or else they will plant their ass in the chair and stop working, best described by Ayn Rand's comedy "Atlas shrugged". Whats that? It wasn't a comedy you say? "Shiver"!
My opinion is that this issue is not about hardworking or lazy people, but rather about opportunity and education, and more, a package we call the welfare system. Without food, shelter and health, you will never have the strength to strive to your potential. And without education you can't reach the potential an advanced society give you. Its not capitalism that have given us today's thriving society, it is technology and ideas. It's not big companies that give us new inventions, they just give us more of the same invention they once hatched. It is rather students, researchers and crowdfunding campaigners that give us something new. It is made by human innovative thinking powers, not a dumb economic system. People have freely traded for several thousands of years, but no mobile was traded before all the right parts was researched, invented and putt together.
What the world needs isn't more or freer trading. What the world needs is a global population with access to food, shelter, healthcare and education, so their minds are free to invent rather than survive.
