The Indonesian nation now has a reliable capability in the field of aerospace technology, especially aircraft for medium-haul routes and pioneers.

The National Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN) said the success of the first prototype pilot test of the N219 aircraft registration number PK-XDT at Husein Sastranegara Airport, Bandung, West Java, became the momentum of the revival of Indonesia's research and technology.

"With the success of the inaugural flight test of N219 we can declare this the second technological revival day after (N250 aircraft)," said Head of LAPAN Thomas Djamaluddin while attending the inaugural prototype N219, in Bandung, Wednesday (16/08/2017).

The inaugural flight of N219 came a day before the 72nd anniversary of Indonesian independence. N219 is expected to fill the market of operators who fly pioneering routes at home and abroad, flight-based flights and other business aviation.

The market in this niche is quite as often allegedly some world mass media aviation there are about 500 units around the world.

The N219 model is expected to deal directly with de Havilland DHC-3 Otter, DHC-6 Twin Otter, Antonov An-28, Britten Norman Trislander, or CASA N-212 Aviocar.

Thomas Djamaluddin said, LAPAN and PT Dirgantara Indonesia began to coordinate for planning to make and design airplane turboprop N219 since 2014. Chronologically, the basic idea of N219 design has been happening since 2011

"The year 2014 began to work great, when it was started and made N219 by making four aircraft with details for test flight and test on the ground," he said.

He said, former Head of LAPAN, Bambang Setiawan, always reminded him that N219 is not only limited to prototypes. In PT Dirgantara Indonesia is still stored prototype N250 named Gatot Kaca whose condition is now pathetic.

"Mr. Bambang keeps reminding me that this (N219) should really fly to not just a mere prototype. This is a passion for us," he said.

He further said LAPAN plans to develop the N219 up to amphibious version so the plane can land on a small island.

"We want this for small islands so close connectivity, we will develop the amphibious version so that it can land on a small island with no foundation, it can land on the beach," he said.

On Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at around 09.00 WIB, the Head of LAPAN witnessed the successful pilot of the first prototype of N219 prototypes designed and designed by PT DI and LAPAN at the Airport Runway Husein Sastranegara Bandung.

The first N219 aircraft prototype made by the nation's children flew premiere after obtaining the Certificate of Airworthiness from the Directorate of Air Service and Operation (DKUPPU) of the Ministry of Transportation. N219 is a passenger plane of 19 passenger capacity, technologically Avionics, to be operated to meet the needs of people in remote areas.

LAPAN party is proud because the work of N219 aircraft is done entirely by Indonesian technicians. Flight test N219 aircraft is piloted by Captain Esther Gayatri. (Ant)

"Tahun 2014 mulai kerja besar.

(ant)
