How We Can Protect Our Freedom of Speech and Values

Freedom of speech and personal liberty have been engrained in Western culture for centuries and no country has done more to promote these values than the United Kingdom. From the Magna Carta all the way up to the present day, the United Kingdom has been a defender of free speech and democracy and has continuously led by example. As a Brit, it's one of the few things that we can look back on and feel genuine pride in what we have accomplished. Incomprehensibly though, it is that same United Kingdom which is now at the forefront of demolishing and eroding these rights and privileges.

By taking away our voice, the UK government is trying to stop us from speaking out against the atrocities committed against the people of the UK by Islamic extremists, grooming gangs and rapists. Our government allows ISIS fighters to return to our country while also allowing tens of thousands of jihadis to walk the streets while imprisoning its own citizens for merely speaking out against the problem. When our freedoms are being stripped away and everyone who speaks out is at risk of being visited by the Police, how can we protect our freedom of speech and British values?

We've reached a critical point in the history and future of the UK. It's a point that many of us thought would arrive much later but with the wrongful imprisonment of Tommy Robinson, it's time that we make a stand otherwise our country and freedoms as we know it will be gone forever.

To achieve this, we have to continue to speak the truth, no matter the cost. The only weapon that the government and police can deploy to silence us is fear. We must show the same courage and bravery that past generations showed when giving their lives to defend the United Kingdom from fascism. We need to refuse to be silenced.

We need numbers on the streets protesting and sending a clear message that we are not going away if we are to be noticed. It's clear that no matter how many of us march on Downing Street or through London, the media and government don't care. The only way they will take notice is when we refuse to let life return to normal until Tommy Robinson is freed and our values are re-instated. The demonstrations outside Downing Street yesterday where are good starting point, shutting down a road which has never been shut down before.

Despite what we are told, we are not the fascists. The ones calling us the names are the true fascists and we must not allow fascism and a totalitarian government and ideology to take hold.

Not only is it important for the way we live our lives now, but it's vital for our children's future.

Our grandparents and great grandparents sacrificed everything to defend this country. It's time that we do the same.
