THE STRENGTH OF THE SPIRIT AS A POLITICAL WEAPON - VENEZUELA

There is more courage and courage in confronting the violence of the oppressor by disobeying him peacefully and firmly, than by brandishing violence against him. Let us give an example that clarifies what has been said: A human concentration is summoned to remain in a vigil sitting in several squares and avenues of Venezuela.

The practice of Non-Violence (Ahimsa), coupled with the practice of Civil Disobedience, says Mahatma Gandhi, is the best strategy to achieve a great political goal. The essence of this strategy is of a moral nature, and its only weapon is the Force of the Spirit.

In all probability the National Guard and the armed bands of the regime tried to dissolve it by force. But if the protesters manage to resist without violence the jets of water under pressure from the "Whale" and the tear gas, it will obtain, if it persevere for a certain time, better political results than if the aggressors were answered with Molotov and stones.

This apparent paradox is based on the fact that the violence used against defenseless people who peacefully protest for legitimate causes such as lack of food and political persecution, will show itself in the eyes of everyone, even before the eyes of the aggressors themselves, the injustice and cruelty of such violence.

The objective of the Gandhian strategy is to influence the Moral Consciousness that naturally underlies every human being, leading the aggressors and the regime in general to rectify, or, otherwise, to morally corner them before the public, until the point of forcing them to resign.
This was conceived and successfully applied by political fighters such as Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela. This form of political struggle, in addition to being the most ethical and civilized, is the only reasonable way to confront an oppressive regime determined to everything, when firearms comparable to those used by it are not available.

Definitely, there is no alternative other than returning to the streets, since the events of October and November of 2017 showed that adopting the electoral route under the conditions imposed by the regime means playing the game with the regime, or worse, serving puppets But eye! Going back to the streets does not necessarily imply retaking the vociferous guarimbas and marches that took place in 2015.

The reason for the failure of that opposition strategy was that it generated only deaths and destructions, which, in the great majority of cases, were perpetrated by the same regime through the systematic use of infiltrated commandos. The objective of the government's tactics at that time was to create a matrix of opinion that would show the opposition to public opinion as "violent" and the government as "lover of peace." Although false, this opinion matrix was used successfully by the national and international media, and also served as a pretext to dictate the so-called "Law against Hate", whose only real purpose was to give it a legal and humanitarian appearance. We must return to the streets, yes, but shielding the demonstrations and demonstrations against any possibility of violence, whether provoked by the regime or by some members of the opposition groups, as well as against any possibility of media manipulation, in which, for Certainly, the regime has proven to be very skillful.

The protest modality that we propose here, which we will denominate in the following Seated Concentrations; as well as any other modality or tactics of nonviolent struggle that is implemented, must be part of a general strategy of Civil Disobedience. This strategy, by itself or used in conjunction with a possible pronouncement of important sectors of the Armed Forces (see our previous article), will jeopardize the dictatorship and force it to negotiate without major bloodshed.
