Everyone deserves a 2nd chance to clean up their mistakes
Heart touching lesson from the life of Michael Phelps
Michael Phelps was born into a family of swimmers..
He always wanted to be one too But his fear of water got on his way . He was scared to put his head under water And had to take help of his sisters to get through. That's how his journey as a swimmer began.
He became the youngest player to represent America in the olympics.
And at 15 , he broke the world record in 200m butterfly.
At 27 , Phelps took an early retirement at the peak of his career. After which things started to fall apart.
At 29, Phelps was arrested for driving while drunk. Which started ruining his image of a star athlete. That's was not the end of his scandalous lifestyle. Later he was seen smoking marijuana at a party.Which was followed by his second drunk driving arrest.
His actions was hurting his fans & he lost all the respect he had earned in years.
He went to rehab but that didn't work out And everybody thought that he would never make it. After going through severe depression.
He finally made his mind to change himself And regain his lost respect.
So, he contacted his old coach And took back his retirement. To appear in Rio Olympics for one last time.He knew that he had lost his stamina.
So, he trained harder than he ever had. He was prepared to push all his limits.
He said " If I go to Rio and don't win finals, I'm probably going to be pissed ".
All his hard work paid off .
When he ended up winning 5 gold medals And proved the world that he was not just a washed up athlete.
And was on a mission to regain his lost respect.
Phelps then retired for one final time with the record history of 28 medals.
" It's not how we make mistakes, but how we correct them that defines us. "
I hope today all are like this inspirtional story.
