Foilboarding at sunset in Emerald Isle, NC

in #inspiration7 years ago

The setting sun, the rising moon, friends, four-wheel-drive, and a fur-ball.

It was a good evening session!

After our kiteboarding lessons, we loaded up the truck with foilboards and the rest of our gear and decided to drive out on the beach. In Emerald Isle, and much of The Crystal Coast of NC, you can drive a 4x4 on the beach from September - April.
This evening was the last chance to hit the beach in the truck before they close it to traffic.

It was probably one of my most memorable moments foilboarding in the ocean.
The wind was perfect, and I started to foil the waves for the first time.

Imagine this, you are suspended on your board several feet above the water surface traveling at incredible speeds able to carve nearly directly upwind. Add in the factor of gliding along the face of a wave.

I am decidedly obsessed with this right now, so stay tuned.

I've watched people kiteboarding on the Outer Banks and it looks like a lot of fun. I've never heard of foilboards until now, though. What's the difference?

Great question- the only difference is in the construction of the board. All other aspects of kiting are the same.

Nice to hear you have traveled to OBX. I live just south of there.

This photo is quite powerful. I live in Venezuela and there is a beautiful place called Isla de Margarita, where kiteboarders and windsurfers gather to offer a visual spectacle while doing what they love. Almost all the year the weather conditions are perfect, wich allow them to connect with nature practically every day. I hope that one day you can visit us and check it out. Greetings from Venezuela.

I hope to visit there as well. I have some friends who live there!!

Great! If you ever come to Venezuela, let me know as well, maybe I can show you Caracas a little bit before you jump off to Margarita. You are gonna have fun there. There are a lot of People just like you that want to enjoy the windy days, and that my friend lights up the Island. Saludos desde Caracas!

It's good to know that someone enjoys their sport so passionately. I congratulate you. Greetings.

So beautiful and excellent way to enjoy moments

How would I like to go with my friends to a place like this? It looks really cool and the sensations that you describe, I could almost feel them
