Frank Abrams of North Carolina bought in 2011 at the flea market an old ferrotype, which cost him $ 10. The man hung a metal plate with five men in the clothes of the Wild West on the wall of his house and forgot about it. Four years later he saw a news story about a collector Randy Guicharo from California, who bought a photo for a $ 2 dollar flea market, which was later estimated at $ 5 million.

It turned out that the photo depicted a well-known criminal Billy Kid, who became one of the symbols of the Wild West. Abrams noticed that the man on his ferrotype looked very much like that guy and turned to the experts. It turned out that in the picture, in addition to the Billy Kid himself, the sheriff, Pat Garrett, who killed him, is depicted on August 2, 1880, the date on the back of the plate and his signature. At the moment, this is the only known photo of the legendary bandit and his killer, and therefore its cost may exceed $ 5 million.
