Benefits of Intermittent Fasting for Brain Health
In this blog I will share with you some amazing benefits of Intermittent fasting.
Intermittent fasting triggers some actions like cellular adaptations and cellular changes
in the brain. Research have found some tremendous effect of intermittent fasting on our brain.
We already know about the benefits of fasting with our midsection, our body fat management, our performance with exercise and the protection of your muscles so they don't become weak or destroyed. Intermittent fasting also increase a factor in the brain called Brain Derived Neurotrophic factor.
It is something in the brain that increases the survival of existing neurons which basically are brain cells and also increases the growth of new neurons in the hippocampus. Hippocampus is that part of our brain that gets destroyed when we have Alzheimer's. Hippocampus synchronize information structure in the brain helps to us locate ourselves in time in space. So if you're going outside like where did you park where to put my keys, where are you going you can't follow directions that type of thing that would be a destruction of the hippocampus. Now BDNF also has a powerful effect when it comes down to an antidepressant activity within the body which explains why when you're fasting you feel pretty good. With higher amount of BDNF your sense of well-being gets significantly high.
Insulin is a egregious for hippocampus. Insulin resistance will create problems with hippocampus memory structure. Insulin deprives hippocampus of oxygen and starves it as well and then slowly badly affect the process of memory synchronization, hinders learning long-term memory short-term memories. This is something if you know someone that has parked Alzheimer's symptoms or dementia you need to put them on intermittent fasting immediately.
Both Alzheimer's and dementia mainly caused by amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in brains. Those are basically some bunch of synthesized proteins. These single molded protein fragments are very toxic for our neurons. Amyloid plaques cause barrier in synapsis of neurons and hamper our logical thinking and memory management.
There is no medication at present, but research has produced some promising treatments. Intermittent fasting has a formidable effect in aspect of curing Alzheimer's and Dementia. Intermittent fasting facilitates garbage disposals of the cells/neuron cells which allows the toxins to come out of the body a lot easier.
It makes sense that intermittent fasting would have a tremendous effect on our brain. When we look at how our ancestors operated and when they would go long periods of time between meals it would make sense that they would have to have a lot of focus. Why would you want to be fatigued and not have your brain functioning very well? If you have to be paying attention.
A lot of us believe that fasting is absolutely terrible simply because you're gonna lose all this cognitive function you're gonna have cognitive decline but that's not the case. It actually does the opposite. Because intermittent fasting causes your brain to become very efficient.
The first thing that we're gonna look at when it comes down to fasting and its effect on the brain is the actual neural activity and what is called synaptic activity. Synapses are what allow neurons to communicate with each other. They're sort of the bridge between each other. Now normally we have a high amount of activity that's going on with these synapses. It's causing different kinds of sparks it's causing cells to communicate in one way or another .But when we're fasting our body tries to become a little bit more conservative, it becomes a little bit more efficient. It actually slows down this synaptic activity. Now at first this sounds like a bad thing, it sounds like we would not want to decrease our brain function. That's not really what's happening our brain function isn't really decreasing our brain energy . On fasting our brain sort of goes into a restorative mode or sort of a restful mode. What does that mean it means it becomes more efficient and a sniper like focus.
So, let us start intermittent fasting to get those amazing results on our most effective things our brain.
