Hi and welcome to Steemit. Is "Nona" an Italian word? I think I heard it from Jamie Oliver when he visited the nonas in Italy and learned from their way of cooking. Hope you enjoy it in here.
That is what my grandchildren would call me Nona (pronounced No-Nah) and yes, I do believe it is the Italian word for grandmother. The children called their other grandmother Na-Na. As it became confusing, they now refer to me as Mormor (Norwegian, which is my cultural heritage, for grandmother).

yes, that is nordic for grandmother.
