Hello Steem It Community! 

I am here to make my obligatory #introducemyself post. My name is Laura and I am completely new to the world of Steem. I started this Steem It page because I needed some place to voice my views, opinions, and experiences in this strange, strange world without fear of getting blacklisted on other social media sites, whom shall stay nameless. To be completely honest, I am not going to be “politically correct.” This blog at the moment will be mainly about my political views, my thoughts on the world, etc. 

 Now more about me. You could say I am a millennial. I grew up in a somewhat conservative environment. I went to a religious private school K through 8th grade. I also attended church regularly until about a year or so out of high school. This is when I started really questioning what I was taught growing up, therefore I completely wanted to rebel against many of the things I learned. Basically I was raised Christian, became somewhat of an Atheist, now I am back to God, but I don’t consider myself a Christian. I am pretty sure everyone goes through something like this, right?   

 I was starting to stray onto the left side of the fence. Wandering around, agreeing with liberal thought. Nothing wrong with that. Then it was the year 2016, time for the Presidential Campaign. Trump Vs. Hillary. Still in liberal thought, it wasn’t too much longer when Trump was voted into the office. Oh my god, what are we going to do? Trump is president! Everyone thought it was the end of the world. I was worried what was going to happen, but then I really started to pay more attention to the world. All through the alternative media, and boy, I was so very very wrong.

 Now you could say I was not a hard core leftist/liberal, but I leaned pretty far, however, I observed somethings that you could say, snapped me out the daze. Curiosity got the best of me. I started watching conservative talks, interviews and alternative news media. My curious nature got the best of me and my liberal self. I could honestly say it was Milo Yiannopoulos that pulled me out of the leftist cesspool. I watched videos of his talks and interviews. I was unsure of him at first, but he grew on me, and I started to like him and his outrageous conservative views. I started to develop an appreciation for conservatism, however I was still unsure about everything. Then the unthinkable happen, the mainstream media, something that many people trust, started to lie about Milo, his book deal was dropped, he was kick out of CPAC, they tried to destroy this man’s life by falsely accusing him of pedophilia. It was all lie, horrible lies. I was appalled. How could I label myself as liberal after witnessing this? This was more than enough to send me running back over the fence.   

 It is now 2018. Donald Trump has been President for over a year and the world has not ended. I am now a right leaning conservative, and I am here to do my part to fight for freedom speech by expressing my views. At home I can express any view I want. I may be met with a debate, but it is a mutually respectful debate. At work however, it’s a different story. I work with many left leaning people. If I were to declare my Trump support to the wrong person, it would spread like wildfire, possibly affect my standing with my company because anything I would say would be twisted. Trust me, it’s almost happened to me more than once. This is why I need this Steem It. There have been so many times I wanted to step in and point out the craziness of people, but have to bite my tongue because of my position and fear of being shamed into submission. Now I don’t work anywhere horrible, it’s just the industry I went into and unfortunately, I cannot afford to lose my job. It is my hope with this blog the world would allow me to voice my opinion, and show you that people right of centered also have feelings and concerns and share the same human soul that is inside all of us.
